Well...this is a weird comparison. lol

The Black Album is P's funkiest album...but I still consider TRC to be one of his strongest in years. confused

...can't pick between the two, I love them both for many different reasons.

Without it's twin The Black Album doesn't compare. Yeah, there are some funky cuts but anybody this side of the '80's knows it can't fuck with TRC.

Freeze

The Rainbow Children for sure..... When The Black album I ran out and grabbed it first day and was so excited to finally have this piece of work that got scraped in for Lovesexy. Lets just say that I am SOOOOO happy that he scraped it as only about 1/3 of the songs are .... decent ..... never listen to the thing .... put it in this perspective I listen to Chaos and Disorder more than I listen to the Black album .... point made

Damn, Freeze has spoken! I’ve always been of the opinion that the circumstances surrounding the release/non-release of the BLACK ALBUM have significantly diminished its reputation. I don’t think there is any filler on the record and I think every song is top notch (including "Dead on It"). It’s got a lean and funky track order but damn that’s only fitting for this, the rawest and dirtiest album Prince has ever recorded. And the music? If only NEWS and TRC had the funk, edge, vitality of "2 Nigs." "2 Nigs" is a succussful fusion of Jazz and funk, much more so, in my opinion, than anything on the vapid TRC. I listen to Lovesexy and really, lyrics aside, I hear a weaker version of the BLACK ALBUM. Songs like “Eye No” and “Love Sexy” and even “Alphabet Street” are born directly from “Cindy C” “Le Grind” and “Super…” The edge and groove, however, gets lost in the sometime impenetrable overproduction of Lovesexy. Just my opinion.
