Ex-Bandmembers--blessing or curse to have worked with Prince? Seems most peeps who have played in one version or another of the Revolution/NPG were accomplished, albeit relatively obscure, musicians before they signed up for the gig. But what happens when they get let go/leave the band? I think really only Sheila E, and to a lesser extent Wendy and Lisa, have continued to make a sustained career after leaving the nest. (I count Sheila because she was the featured Lovesexy/SOTT drummer even though she was a "solo"artist). Wendy and Lisa had a couple of minor hits, but pretty much fell off the mainstream radar. I know a few of the ex-NPG guys formed that one band, but nobody outside of MPLS heard from them again.
So, does it really further your career by working with Prince, being in the limelight, or do you have lofty expectations placed on your head (I just remember the Brownmark and Bobby Z albums were awful..and poor sellers) [This message was edited Sun May 16 7:24:16 2004 by meltwithu] you look better on your facebook page than you do in person | |
