Hey all...

I was browsing through my Emancipation lyric book a day or so ago and came upon the last two pages that feature mirror images of Prince sitting in what is obviously the child's playroom.

Now, being a new father myself, I now realize that the impact of what happened to Prince & Mayte back in '96 didn't really touch me. The old saying is true, "until you have one, you just don't know..."

Anyway, that picture brought tears to my eyes. I can't begin to describe how much joy my 1-year old has brought to my life. It is now absolutely heart-breaking to think about what they must have gone through during the week after the birth of their child, especially if they didn't have any idea that there were any problems until after the birth (as seems to be the case).

Seeing that picture with Prince sitting in his playroom (and having personally taken a swing or two on the swingset that was at Paisley Park), I now fully understand the anticipation and happiness that must have been growing inside of him as November, 1996 approached.

To have things turn out the way they did must have been devastating, and I am sure that he probably still deals with the effects to this day. I just hope he knows that there are fans out here who truly understand what that period must have been like, and that we hope that things one day turn out better for the both of them in each of their lives.

Hmmm my Emancipation lyric book doesnt have a pic of P in a playroom. I recently bought this cd set, I'm wondering if the pics were edited?

Does anyone else have the lyric book without this pic?

I am not familiar with the death of P's child because Prince had been off my radar for many years before this happen. I will say that I am pretty sure they knew their child was going to be born with the birth defect...between blood work, ultrasounds and amnioscienticis, I doubt that it was not know in advance. They will usually try to counsel the parents in order to help them cope and prepare for having a special needs child. Even with knowing, the whole ordeal had to, and probably still is, be devastating.

I have like 4 or 5 copies of this thing. They were giving them out for free at Paisley Park for a while, so I thought what the heck.

Hmm, I just checked a 2nd copy that someone bought me as a gift, the "clean" version, and it doesn't have it either....

Is it possible that only super early pressings have this pic and it was removed before official release after the baby was born with problems??? weird. I want it!

Awww...looking at that pic makes me sad. Look at the little pillow with the on it.....

There was a seperate Lyric Book that came out just after the release of Emancipation and this is where those pics are found!! The booklet in the CD package doesnt include these pics!!

It's not in the booklet that came with the CD set. It's a separate "book size" book that has all of the actual lyrics in it.

I will never forget the horrible news, because Prince's baby was born on my daughter's 1st birthday.

Yep I remember this I found out I was pregnant with my son November 20th 1996. This was around the time I first started seeing the Betcha By Gollow Wow vid with Mayte finding out she was pregnant in the video. I was so happy and it was weird that the day I found out I was expecting, I was singing that song in the doctor's office. Then I found out what happened to Prince's child and I was so devastated. But to this day whenever that song plays I just think... this is my baby's song. It is something special to me and makes me think about my first born.

Not that it matters..... but I have to point out that it is not a mirror image, just look at his hands. And I personally don't think that was his child's playroom.....maybe a daycare or something at paisley park?? I just don't think he would have painted blue bricks in his baby's playroom..... and the stuff in there looks pretty generically boring... his baby's room was probably BEAUTIFUL and I doubt he would show it to any photographer.

I think that Manci was just trying to make a point that anyone with children can understand. Hell, even those without children can too. So what if it is or isn't his child's intended playroom. It still reminds us all of what once was.

I think the picture is a playroom at Paisley Park. Remember there is also a playground outside where Scary Spice interviewed Prince.
But more importantly, this subject magnifies the reason (in my opinion) why so many pregnancy rumors get started about Prince and Mani. Looking at that picture is heartbreaking and I think most of us want a happy ending for Prince in that part of his life. The renewed popularity is wonderful, but Prince as a daddy is something I think many of us will continue to wish for.
I also wish for a good outcome for Mayte too.

Yep, that was the swing we went on. We snuck around there during Celebration 2000. Well, "snuck" is probably too strong of a word. They didn't have it sectioned off. We just took a stroll around "the Park" and came upon it. Took a bunch of pictures there. I remember thinking then that it was probably built for the little-tyke. Really sad...

I think during the 2000 Paisley Park tour that room was being renovated and turned into a library or something. I can't remember what exactly it was the guide said, but I've always assumed that the door we were looking at held the room that's in that picture. Guess I'll never know for sure...

Darling probably should have Tried soon after for Another little Tyke. He shouldn't have to be without a Child. I am sure he Can do Something he wants to have. There are Many Procedures. It's Heartbreaking,but Darling could have with Medical advances in Science.

IMO,I believe if he decides 2 try again,I honestly believe it'll be a success, Seems even back then & esp. now he's ready & willing 2 be a father(a damn good 1 @ that,2). I pray if so that it all works out. 1nce again I'm sorry 'bout from the past..neva experienced this myself but I can defintely get the feeling of how much it hurt him & Mayte. & best wishes 2 her even now.

The good thing about 2day is Medical Technology is a lot more advanced than it wuz in the '90s. A possible betta chance of his child living...JMO,though.

probably the stress and grief of it all is what dimished his relationship with mayte and they probably didn't get around to...well they probably tried, but it didn't happen. i hate that, that happened to them. as good as mani is "suppose" to be for him, i don't see why she hasn't had a child for him yet...but hey its not my business.....
