alright, now, i know prince has made a lot of songs -- and it must be hard to come up with all the topics for those, but this one inparticular, every time i hear this song, i am taken by the words -- if i was his ex, i dont think that i would be to fond of this song....am i reading too much into it ?

You're not reading into anything, the lyrics came from somewhere in Prince's life. They don't just pop up out of the clear blue.
