Observation about the MUSICOLOGY album Is it just me or do a lot of songs from the MUSICOLOGY CD seem incomplete? for instance, "A Million Days" seems like a song that Prince came up with but put to the side with intentions on finishing it later. It seems like something is missing from that song....."If I Were The Man In Your Life" comes across like that too...as if its missing something....I'm also shocked at how short theses songs are...most of the songs are under 4 minutes I'm not griping but I wonder why Prince chose to put these songs on this particular CD....is it to say that music buyers today wouldnt be able to grasp his more complex and legnthier songs?..if so ,thats an insult..even though that would be a somewhat true assumption....

Well, he did say that this is a 'Pop' album, that everyone can dig. We're Prince fans, we can listen to long extended versions of songs and love it. Sadly, the general public, pop fans, Billboard junkies have a short attention spand. They need a song to be short with a catchy hook. Besides that, where as individually the songs may be shorter, they flow very very nice together. Blue

I agree with the both of you. This is one of my favorite songs on the album, but it is a bit too short, that doesnt take away from how good it is though. [quote] Did you order a pizza ma'am? Prince- UTCM

I just got Musicology yesterday...Yes, yesterday (the days of getting it one the first day are over for me). I listened to it twice and I am sure it will grow on me. But I did say to myself during a couple of the songs, "Why did he fade it out there?" I felt like a few of the songs were like edit versions of the full tracks. But like you said the short attention span thing... I hear ya'.

It's like that by design. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

the way the marrying kind and if i was the man in your life sound sonically and seague into each other, i believe they were recorded as one song and split up later, taken in that context, it is truly an amazing song with no easily definable verse or chorus, very experimental song structure

Yeah that reminded me of on Purple Rain how Baby I'm a Star and I would die 4 U are set up. I also think this album flows very well sorta like the symbol album. What other albums do you guys think that all the songs fit and it just flows from one to another nicely? Gotta exclude Lovesexy because it is one huge continual track. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

...I can see what you mean. "The Marrying Kind' & 'If I were the man in your life' seem almost like one song how one ends and continues into the other. I wouldn't mind if they had been a little longer. I love 'The Marrying Kind', but you mean sort of like 'A Million Days', now that's one complete song with a climax & everything. It starts slow and gets faster at the end with hardly any notice. Maybe that's why I can't seem to get enough of that album, like 'Parade'.
