I'm trying to make my ultimate Prince collection of officially released material (I cheated and do have a live version of Shhh). I've determined 4 CD's is the right amount, i don't really want to do 5. I was just wonderin what you all think is really really great that i have excluded. Because of time constraints, I've chosen "the hits, b sides" versions unless noted (I had to have full versions of Controversey and WDC for example). I know the list is a little musicology heavy, but hey, it's new and i'm still absorbing it.

Let me know what you would add or loose. I own most official releases. I know I don't have anything from emancipation or Come or Chaos, convince me if you think i should and what u would replace. I tried to be very aware of the flow also, not having to many ballads or up tempo tracks next to each other....

This is an excellent kind of "best of" collection... I would even venture to say it rivals the "hits" but I agree with the others, you have way too much Musicology... absorb it if you must, and let the CREAM rise to the top

LA, I really like your selection of purple favorites. I can tell that you really put a lot of time and effort into this compilation - and I think that the Orger's suggestions to improve your 'best of' set are all good. Glad that you added Cream back in the mix... and I think once you eliminate some of the Musicology tracks, you'll have enough room for your Emancipation and Black Album selections as well. Four CDs should be enough!

On most of these disks, their might be a few surprises….example, if there is room left on disk I have 1-2 songs by like Appolonia 6, or Dez Dickerson or other rare stuff. VERY COOL

Actually, I think there are a lot of 1999 songs, including DMSR. You are right about the pre controversy songs, but honestly, I don't really like that sound too much, the fallsetto vocals, late 70's(early, early 80's) style. I may include I wanna be your lover. I'm also glad to see a lot of people recomending Bob George cause i've been leaning towards that too. I listened to "the one" yesterday, which a lot of people recomended, and it's just not moving me. Sexuality is again, another i've been thinking of adding, damn....there's only so much space on 4 CD's. I'm really not feeling anything from emancipation

This is getting to be damn near impossible. Thanks to all 4 your input. After careful review, i'vd decided emancipation just doesn't do it for me. I've reviewed all the songs others mentioned too. I've added cream back, as well as the joy in repetition, love bizzare (i know it's not technically prince, but sure feels like it with his vox all over it), taken away cinamon girl, musicology, 18 and over. don't know what else i can get rid of. I REALLY want to make room for Bob George, Around the world in a day, and maybee sexuality, in that order. Here is my current list....I at least have to make room for Bob George and maybe around the world in a day. Help, what should go? Peach, A million days, dear mr man, i love all these songs, but i don't want to get to crazy and want to have 4 CD's that are must haves in the car or 4 friends.
