Reflection - lyric confusion

I love Reflection, one of the best in years, etc etc
One thing I can't understand is the lyric:
"fishing nets and posters all over the walls"

I assumed he was saying fishnets, as in him and Andre keeping souveniers of their escapades, hence the "mirror tiles above the bed"

But fishing nets?

Was that a trend among you folks back in the 70's? Cuz that's news to me.

Also anyone figure out how the song shifts perspective?
First it sounds like a love song, the "you" is his current interest, but then he goes into "we would compare" as in his old friend.

Unless the song is about Morris and Andre...which might explain why he forgot to look up at the moon today... lol

Fishnets we're back in the 70's also. my aunt used to hang them from the ceiling, it looked like a spider man effect!

Goodness this song does take you back.

I remember the fishing nets and blacklight posters. You can still find the look if you were to go into Spencer's gifts.

Back in the day they use to have some really neat blacklight posters.

Anyone have the Kiss blacklight poster? Their tongues use to scare me. eek

Personally... To me this song sounds like a letter to his sister...

I love how the song just ended abruptly....and a long quiet moment...
"Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

I think the song is directed to his sister. The fishing nets he is referring to are big ass nets hung on the walls with posters of their favorite bands... something teenagers probably did back in the day. I imagine fishing nets on the walls the way there were big fishing nets on the walls during "Sex Shooter" in Purple Rain...

You feel me?

p.s. He's singing to his sister: "I was just thinking about... Mother"

Yeah I thought he was referring to his sister also. I didn't have any fishing nets on my walls, I must have missed that trend drink
...:...Must I become naked?
No image at all?
Shall I remain upright?
Or get down and crawl?...:...

I don't Think he Means FISHNETS all over the Wall. I think he's Remembering Girl's in Fishnets.

Regardless, he's just reminiscing. It's clearly an internal dialogue beginning with a re-telling of very simple events as they happen, and as experienced with a loved one.
