FILE COMPLAIN TO FCC FOR LACK OF AIRPLAY/ clear channel rival of concert west

fccinfo@fcc.gov thats the FCC complaints email

send ur complaint to FCC and u can vary the draft and give more suggestions

DRAFT of petition to FCC
-----

RE:Clear Channel manupulations of airplay

Clear Channel which is a rival of concert west( promoters of the prince concert) Have made a concerted effort not to play his single because his hit soldout concert is promoted by the rival.
Prince is one of the most creative artist who plays all his intruments( more then 24) has been blanked out of the airwaves

Althought the album musicology is spending third week at #3
with cumulative sales of over half, a million, a very impressive achievement.
But the Airplay is lacking despite the fact that the public is buying his CD

This is the culture of coporate greed and media manipulation
and a gross violation of the FCC rules.

Thats why we should not have one company control most of
the radio stations.

If the FCC doesnt take legal action, we as fans of prince will
go and collect petitions to send to news outlets.

FCC has failed us by letting clear channel control what we want to hear.

If I were a station manager, I wouldn't be too inclined to play the song. I hate to say something like this, especially since I am what you would consider a hardcore fan (and have been for a long-ass time). But this song just doesn't cut it; I'm sorry.

On the flip side, I think it's a pretty good damn slap in the face to Clear Channel that this album is still #3 despite precious little airplay. Maybe they'll jump on the bandwagon when a better single is released.

'Thank you for contacting the FCC, this is an automated response to
acknowledge receipt of your e-mail. We will try to respond to your
general inquiry within 2 business days of this automated reply. Due to
the complexity of certain issues the response time may go beyond 2
business days, but will never exceed 20 business days.'

seriously. and just like i said before, the fcc has more pertinent matters to attend to than to order folks what to play on some jinky radio stations...radio rots nowadays anyway. why you still listen to it?

hmm

You're missing the point completely.

Station manager's don't get inclined to do anything....they're told what to play. It has nothing to do with whether the sation manager, president of clear channel or the king of beers likes the single. This is a much bigger problem beyond just the scope of musicology and most everyone's attitudes in this thread suck. The radio might be obsolete in most of your eyes but it's the very idea that any one company can control public airwaves. And if you don't get give a fuck then maybe you will when it affects something you do care about. If it's happening to radio don't you think it could happen elsewhere?

asg, i'm with you and I seriously applaud your activism.

and marrk, "Somewhere there's a war going on." Wow, how fucking profound. Except you meant to say there's "wars", plural, more than one. Not just in Iraq, or the world over but here in America. Do your math and save yourself some embarrassment.

I think FCC would rather let this be handled in the
media. I doubt they'd be quick to jump into
legal action. Like Dansa said, they've got
bigger fish to fry.

And like others said, why let radio's play/non-play
get in the way of the enjoyment. Turn your radio
off. That'll teach em!
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

Well radio airplay is illegally manipulated by forces of biz alliances
Radio makes a difference i am sure if he had more airplay the
album could sell more. A hit single makes a difference to me.

What clear channel is doin is in violation of the communication
laws.

Its frustating that airwaves r just a game for big companies

As a consumer i want my money to make the choice of airwaves

Clear channel FCC r all gaming the system i cant stand this and all u guys have to do is send an email to FCC it takes less then 1min.

That's stragne cause here in L.A. clear channel stations were and are promoting his concerts for Staples and The Louisianna Suiperdome thing on the 4th of July. So why would they promote his concerts if they aren't gaining from them?

i agree with what you're saying, and I think a war against Clear
Channel while Mr. Bush is in office is futile.

Personally, I think the hold that ClearChannel has over media outlets is worrying.

But I couldn't give a shit if they are playing Prince's album on the radio - I already play the music at home - and I certainly wouldn't waste my time and money calling a radio station to ask for it to be played.

It isn't as if any of this is genuinely born out of political activism aimed at the corporate machine.
