Glad he didn't go with What Do U Want Me To Do as the next single....

Preface..... I say this not to be insensitive, but just as an obscure observation...

I've always notice Prince being very on-time with his political statements, and in some instances even being prophetic, i.e. the "Osama gonna drop the bomb in 2001" line from a live recording back in 1998 I think.....

Anyways, after the recent footage of David Berg's killing, I happened to listen to the "WDUWMTD" track, and low and behold, there's the line about (paraphrased)"...if we were in another land, you'd be beheaded ...blah blah blah"....

Can you imagine this song being sent for "Radio Impact" on May 11 as Call my Name was? OMG! Could've been VERY VERY bad!

This person does have a point. People in Africa were outraged at Britney Spears song "slave for you" because they still had slavery in their home land. People could have said something dumb over that line; especially in light of Nick Bergs' death.
My name is Prince evilking and I want your money

Well, it's Nick Berg (Not David Berg), but your point is well taken. Whatever the case, this was a tragic event that will be mourned worldwide for a long time...

Ooops... actually I knew it was Nick.... I was talking to a David when I was typing this.....

I don't think I'm over thinking anything actually.... just that people in general respond even over react to the smallest things, and by simply mentioning the word "beheaded" will, at least for the time being, be a flashpoint for some people.

Just my opinion folks.....

WDYWM2D SHOULD be the next single, if Prince is at all interested in being the innovator that he is capable of being. That track is so far advanced compared to the rest of the top 40 landscape. Its head and shoulders above all else. My fav P track in many many years. Probably since Make Your Mama Happy.

Hmmmm....given the diminutive one's comments about the travesty of having future musicians be nothing more than programmers, I don't think he can release a single from this new album - the lesson in music it is supposed to be - unless that single is one with music from a live band. That means no linn drum, as much as I happen to like (and miss) that sound from Prince. It would be rather hypocritical of him to have made those statements, and then release WDUWM2D. I happen to love that song, though.

A beheading like what happened with Nick Berg can happen anywhere. In Virginia earlier this week, a guy had his hands chopped off with a machete by a possible rival gang. I think in the song Prince was only referring to places where the actual punishment by the gov't is something like a beheading. What happened to Nick Berg was just like what happened to the guy in VA, a result of friggin' idiots who will get theirs in the end!! And, even in the light of this recent event, WDYWMTD would not do much more for the album than at any other time, either.
