I think some of the bad feelings toward the song came from the expectation of it, how we heard this bit from Mayte before the album came out about how it was a better song than PR. That album would have had to give me chills AND clean my room for me to equal the expectations I was feeling at that time, when I first started getting bootlegs and such.

I think it's a good song -- I wish the gtr solo went on a bit longer, though.
Every now and then
There comes a time you must defend
Your right to die and live again --
And again, and again...

Stop comparing it to other stuff and enjoy it. It's a good fun song and it's irrelevent if it's been done before or not. Enjoy it for what it is, stop comparing everything with everything. eek

Thats right "Purple rain" and "Gold" are very different!

I love Princes 'epic' sounding songs, he's great at them!

"Free"
"Purple rain"
"The cross"
"Anna stasia"
"Still would stand all time"
"Gold
"Saviour" (very underated or forgotten, which is easy to do on "Emancipation" album)
"Last december"

I love all those tracks, they are not just ur average power ballad or whatever, Prince has always been the very good at beutiful melodies and his lyrics on these songs are fine! Stevie or Bruce or even Bob Dylan are the only ones who can beat him lyrically in 'epic pop' stakes IN GENERAL! MJ is good at 'epic also! (No record label pun intended)

I Agree, but don't forget "the Love we make",She gave her angels".Those and "Still would stand all time" Are my Favorites! I love "Savior" but it gets a bit
noisy at the climax just like "Sensual ever after" I love that too, but again it gets a bit too much at the end. Oh and an honorable mention "strays of the world" & (although he didn't sing it, it's still his) >"Time waits for no one"

So the list Grows

"Free"
"strays of the world"
"Purple rain"
"The cross"
"Anna stasia"
"Still would stand all time"
"the Love we make"
"Savior"
"She gave her angels"
"The cross"
"Anna stasia"
>"Time waits for no one"
"Gold"
"Last December"

I think I gotta make this a CD.
Bye smile
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.
