Most "annoying" Prince album?

What do you feel is the most "annoying" Prince album? This is different than bad...I can listen to bad albums like NPS or most of GB....it may suck, and I might skip some tracks....but I can bear it.

D&P, on the other hand, is damn near unlistenable to me. "Money Don't Matter Tonight" is fantastic, but the rest just has this SOUND to it that's like thousands of ants crawling straight into my anus. It's fucking torture. Even the hits like Cream, Gett Off, etc. have this nasty feel to them. I don't know...maybe it's just me...maybe I was abducted to aliens who anally probed me while listening to "Push" and prancing around like The Game Boyz.

What Prince album do YOU find to be the most annoying? The one with a basic sound or feel that just drives you up the fucking wall???

"New Power Soul" irritates the shit out of me. Something about the incessant manufactured beats, I think. There are songs on it that I really like, but I can not listen to the whole album all the way through. headache

Emancipation Disc II - there are maybe two or three songs on it that I like, but the rest puts me into a sugar coma...I know there are people who love this disc, but...well...I ain't one of 'em.

Right with you. D&P pissed me off the other day. I'd not listened to it for about 5 years and after playing the Gett Off Maxi single i thought "Why Not?". Utter pants from start to finish. Every song grates on me now. Weird cause when it came out and i saw the tour, i couldn't play it enough for about a year.

It sounds really plasticky and Tony M is totaly unlistenable now. He should remaster it and remove Mr M completely.

Agreed. From the crappy music to the "Home Desktop Design 101" artwork, that album just sucked. "Come On" was the sole cool thing about that work.

The Gold Experience - songs like 'gold' make me cringe. It's just so nonchalant and bland and should be a michael jackson album.

You know I'm with you on NPS, but PR, really? Is it because it's so played-out, or is it inherently irritating to you?

Emancipation. The quality of songs is so far apart. They range from really good (In This Bed I Scream, The Love We Make) to really bad (Mr. Happy, Courtin' Time). The last time I listened to it, I got so frustrated with all the crappy filler separating the really good songs. Ugh.

Emancipation (and Newpower Soul)
...the sound of Prince coasting. All very samey and safe, with only a few truly 'different' or
interesting tracks to spark any interest.

I just cant STAND the whole feel of Rave. It's so "tinny" and it just screams "trend-chasing." Top it all off with that silly millenium favor that was going around, plus the guest appearances and it just makes me want to throw it away.

Almost.

NPS just plain sux, I dont even consider it a Prince album. I think Prince was abducted my two amateur rappers who forced him to make an album in their basement while serving him nothing but Kool Aid and ham for sustenance. Terrible.

I hate it too! Three or four good songs and the rest is a bag of cacka.

Chaos & Disorder. It should be retitled 'Collitis & Dysentry'. The toilet on the cover was a clue, you know?

Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. You can actually feel yourself getting older whilst listening to this all the way through.

Diamonds And Pearls. Its like trying to drink undiluted Vimto - it sets my teeth on edge.

S.N.O.O.Z.E. What this album needs is one more guitar solo. Or maybe it doesn't.

The Rainbow Children. I'd rather go to Hell, if Heaven sounds like this.

Graffiti Bridge. Being forced to build the bridge over the river Kwai would be more fun.

Enlargedfrustration. I want "Da, Da, Da" played at my funeral, just to ensure that everybody cries - the bastards!

prince. Like an embarrassing fart in an elevator that nobody confesses to. Prince managed to capture the sound of when you pull a cutlery drawer out too far and the contents fall on your kitchen floor.

for me, it's a tie between Chaos and Disorder and Diamonds and Pearls...

At least D&P pleased me for about a year...C&D I've NEVER enjoyed...

Musicology bothers me. With all the hype about it and my 3 free copies, I still have the hardest time getting into any of it. I would almost rather put on Chaos and Disorder, or at least one or two songs from that crappy album.

Good pick....Rave is barfingly "tinny." Same thing with a shitload of those NPGMC tracks...just sound "cheap," for lack of a better word.

Unfortunately, Prince sometimes has incredibly low standards and I can’t include just one disk…and no I’m not a hater but P’s shit stinks just like anybody else’s:

NPS – just awful
Chaos and Disorder – two decent tracks, the rest is shit
TRC – about as soulless as jazz gets, three good songs
Xpectation – More soulless Jazz, one good song
NEWS – shit all the way around
ego tripping out

NEWS-Just bores me to death.
Diamonds and Pearls-Tony M's rapping on this makes me PISSED! He RUINS the whole fucking album. It's kind of average anyway though, with just a few gems.
Emancipation Disc III-Why did you include this, Prince? I really don't get it. It has the most stale canned beats I've ever heard, the most plastic sounds you can find. To make it worse, the bastard put two awesome songs in Face Down and Love We Make on there, so I couldn't just throw the disc away when I got the album.
Lovesexy-Not cause of the music, but cause it's just one track! How stupid is that?! It sucks not being able to skip to songs on it I love more than others, or not being able to skip past Alphabet St. (don't like this song much).
