I'm quite the opposite. A life-long fan of the music rather than the image. I never found P particularly sexy, never found him all that attractive [except for when he has long hair]. For me, it's always been about the music. On both a political and social level, I am much more liberal and progressive than he now is. I dig his earlier stuff because he was such the non-conformist. I loved the way he was like, "fuck society," and anti-fascist. To a certain extent, I still think he is upset that people can't be free-thinking without being condemned for their opinions. But I now think he's more socially conservative than I would like for him to be. It's his life, however, and if he's happy then I am happy. Just keep giving me more funky music.

Keep it funky, Prince!

It's like he was the way well see the Hippies were all a certain way in the late 60's and now at age 50 they are What they Hated. Why did Prince get CONSERVATIVE? They say it's Because of Mani. He don't Wanna get all Wild and all Cause well I suppose He Did it All and that Fast Life well he was getting Tired of it all. I Understand him. But well I Dig how Pam Anderson was saying she Kissed Elton John and had a Party where Everyone swam in the Nude. See all the Religion is Gonna CONTROL PRINCE into NOT DOING ANYTHING WILD AGAIN.. I Don't know if Manuela is Into All That Freaky Stuff either. Maybe she is though, but well he Isn't!

Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I have always been totally different than Prince, too...enough so that sometimes I was nervous (though never embarrassed) to share with my Christian friends that I have been a life-long fan. And I'm talking of EVERYTHING. Just because I go to church doesn't mean I skip past "Gett Off" and "Erotic City," ok!? The way I see it, you live your life the way you believe you should, and demonstrate that the music is important to you...to your enjoyment of life, but it doesn't have to make you a different person.

I believe that music can heal, uplift, and even change. But with Prince, all I've ever needed from him was that his music make living in this world a little more bearable.

I don't have a need to be like him. If his recent music is "cleaned up" because of his religious conversion, that's all well and good. Perhaps the benefit is that I can feel less nervous that certain people will criticize and critique me. I don't need to run around trying to get my Christian friends to listen to "the new Prince, now that he's clean." They've got their music and I've got mine...

...and I made a GREAT choice!!!!
