" made me think of Mani giving P the eye when she knew damn well he was married to Mayte's ole hot ass . . . Mani probably saw that Mayte was not dedicated anymore and stepped on up the plate . . . and also the song says she was committed too - which falls over into the "if i was the man in your life" and "marrying kind" songs . . .the whole musicology album seems very Mani inspired, he recoreded it in toronto too.

I actually thought it was current, I was saying to myself, okay in 'What do you want me to do', he says he won't take off his ring & that he's not 'trying to do that' but then in 'The marrying kind' he falls for the girl and says that he 'tried' but seems like she got him to the point to slide that ring off his finger, so it would make sense, it could be about Mani, but when I first heard it over several times, I thought Prince was just playing dirty...hehe. But I wonder what those diet lines are about because Mani isn't exactly 'big' or maybe I'm just missing the lyrics again......but I also thought it was so obvious 'Call my name' & 'On the couch' reads Mani all over. 'The Marrying kind' is one of my FAVORITE, favorite songs on Musicology, can't say it enough...I love the lyric when he says 'that's when I'm gonna lay her across my piano stool and sing 2 her' that's an awesome song & love that sexy picture.

I still think it's weird to hear the phrase/claim "she loves me 4 me" when she was such a big fan for years and was saying - BEFORE she even MET or knew him as a real person - that she was obsessed with him (the ROCK STAR 'him') and her goal was to marry him.
