I always pick up D&P to play and then usually pick something else...

lessee Jughead, walk don't walk, daddy pop, willing and able, strollin and of course D&P and cream. I think I mostly want to listen to it for Thunder and Gett Off.

Making it one track must have been a drug-influenced decision. Although, it does insure that I listen to the whole thing straight through when I play it. There are some real strange moments on the album (like the second half of the title track), but I love it. Perhaps more now than when it was first released.

TRC - because I know how good it is. It could have been a big success, critically and even commercially - but it's like he wanted it to be obscure and difficult to get.

Without the voiceover, and some of the imagery, and Wedding Feast, it could have been a proper, "top 5 P albums" classic.

I kinda know what you mean about D&P. I loved it when it was released. I still think the first half is outstanding, but the second half with Jughead, Insatiable and Push is PAINFUL.

My most annoying has to be GRAFITI BRIDGE. The title sounded sooo promising, but unfortunately Prince felt he had to be a film star again and let the music slide. I know there are worse albums (take your pick from the rest of the 90's). It has the worst opening track; The guest songs are awful; and it climaxes with the title song. Could you get more fucking annoying!

Three good tracks: The Q of U, Joy in Repetition, and Still would stand all time.

Diamonds and Pearls -- can take or leave the whole thing except for "Money Don't Matter 2Night"
The Gold Experience -- didn't care for anything on it except "Shy" and "P Control"
Emancipation -- overall, a disappointing release
New Power Soul -- for all of the reasons previously stated by others in this thread
Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic -- didn't care for anything on it except "Strange But True"

good call with graffiti bridge; i don't think Prince has written a worse song than 'Shake' from that album. At least he tried to shift the blame to the Time by getting them to perform it.

Parade bites if you ask me! I haven't had much experience with it apart from Kiss, Girls & Boys, Mountains and Sometimes it Snows... but as an album I thought it was pretty damn ordinary. Yell at me if you disagree!

[quote]Emancipation Disc II - there are maybe two or three songs on it that I like, but the rest puts me into a sugar coma...I know there are people who love this disc, but...well...I ain't one of 'em.

Somewhat agree. It's too mellow or something. And Curoious Child just creeps me out big time.

Emancipation CDIII...

Damn, I don't even know why it is there!!!!

I couldn't POSSIBLY yell more! Parade is hands-down my favorite Prince album! It's a masterpiece of instrumentation, production, musicianship, songwriting, mood, atmosphere, etc. A fucking masterpiece. To each their own, but man I hope that album grows on you. It's so worth it! Damn...the way the songs flow together so perfectly...it's a musical journey, as cheesy as that sounds.

Probably Diamonds and Pearls. Ugn.

Cream is a great track, and Money Don't Matter 2 Night is pretty good too... I just can't stand the rest of it.

eek and again eek and with feeling eek

Probably some of the strangest stuff he had done at the time. Definitely needs headphones. I did not like it at first..it is a grower. But it's like Prince went to France and was very inspired by it all. It's also the one where wendy and lisa are all over the place on it. Very pretty album. Some of his best stuff is on there. really. It's short, sweet and to the point.

It also had a sound to it that was quite congruent where as the ones right before were all over the map musically.

Emancipation, because it confirmed my fear that the worst moments on D&P, Symbol, & Gold were not subversive attempts to make a joke out of Warner Brothers, but just cheesy songs.
As soon as I heard Right Back Here in my Arms I knew that what Prince meant by freedom was different than what I had imagined.

A consensus seems to be forming on Diamonds and Pearls, a strong plurality at the least, and I'm happy to jump on the bandwagon. One fairly great song (Money Don't Matter...) and some of the most cringe-worthy attempts at rap/hip-hop ever committed to record.

Lovesexy's lyrics bother me - Prince at his best may be the most exciting musician ever to make popular music, but when he proselytizes the way he does on this album it sounds awkward, juvenile and slightly insane. Being a great musician does not make a person a great moralist.

eek One of my favorite albums of the 90s. Good funky stuff. How can you not like Return of the Bump Squad and that Mashed Potato Girl segue?

Also suprised so many are saying Gold is annoying...that is my absolute favorite of the 90s.

Also whoever said Parade should just get slapped. Get that cotton out of your ears.

D&P is not that bad...Gett Off alone saves it from being the most annoying...but there are other qulaity tunes on there, Money Don't Matter, Cream, Willing & Able, and Strolling are all top tunes imo.

As for my pick for most annoying? prince by far. apart from 7 and God Created Woman...the rest is pure crap.

The most annoying album for me is also one of my favourites:

The Rainbow Children.

Also, I find NPS, Diamonds and Pearls, Rave Un2 and prince annoying.
