prince played anty dyke song "bambi" while lisa was in the band it's a bit ironic that in 1982 prince played punk version of bambi ,isn't it a disrespect to lisa she ws the keyboard player at that time.
it's a great song but that "i know what you need, maybe you need to bleed"(by the way he sang full version on 2002 celebration including that nasty line) is offensive to lesbians.

It's not "anti-dyke". Its a song about a fantasy that every straight boy has at some stage... turning a lesbian straight. It's about ego.

(ps...I only think the lyrics are silly, the song ROCKS!)

As a gay person, i can understand folks getting ticked off by this kind of "conversion fantasy," but yeah, I mean, I did much stupider crap when I was that age. Although singing it now without some kind of twist...like she talks him into getting with a man or something...would be a bit tasteless...oh, wait, like he did on Ellen

I'm a lesbian, and I'm not offended by Bambi in the slightest. I don't see it as being anti-dyke. Like funkyfine said, it's about a fantasy. If you got it bad for someone, you want to convince them that it would be better with you. Bambi rocks. The Normal Whores Club

I don't see 'Bambi' as offensive. Just as Randy Newman's 'Short People' isn't.
Don't assume that Prince writes or sings every song from his own point of view, most artists don't. All we have in 'Bambi' is a song from the point of view of a man who's in love with a beautiful lesbian and can't understand why she doesn't fancy him. He thinks that if he gets her to bed and shows her what a 'real man' can do, that he'll "turn her straight"... but of course he doesn't.

Well, Lisa wasn't in the band when Prince performed Bambi at first. Gayle Chapman was. Lisa joined in 80. P wasn't hardly going to stop performing that song cuz of Lisa. If anything, Lisa probably dug it. Lisa was a lot more open minded than Gayle was. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

whoever said that was an anti-dyke song?
all he doing in the song is trying 2 convince a lesbian that sex would be better with him. many men have tried 2 convince me and other lesbians of this. it's ridiculous, yes. i have never been offended by this song, not even when i was a child dyke. dain-daingerous

Not sure how old you are so you might be excused... Its to do with a girl losing her virginity. Nothing vicious or nasty about it.

Bambi's a hella cool song. That song is not derogatory to any kind of lesbian. It's just homeboy in his youth, you know. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
