Um I don't think he was ever fired. Others were...like Bobby Z and Jimmy Jam...THEY worked on Janets Control Album. They had issues with Prince "Controling" them and their solo work. I think it was when they missed a performance due to a snow storm, he fined then fired them.

I don't think Prince ever fired Jerome. Under the Cherry moon was released in the summer of 1986 and a tour followed which included Jerome.

Janet Jackson's "Control" album was released in February of 1986, with the video being released before UTCM was, I believe. If Prince had a problem with Jerome's involvement, I think he would have fired him before the Parade tour.

I could be wrong, but that is my opinion on the situation.

That was Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. They were working on the SOS Band album and missed a 'Time' gig due to a snowstorm.

Yeah, I know all of that, but what was the reason Jerome left the band? Did Cat tell Prince to kick him out and replace him with her? lol

Absolutely. nod
He was an integral part of the Morris persona; with Prince he was so superfluous - had basically nothing to do.

Speaking of Morris and Jerome, did anyone see them on "Eve" last night?? It was hysterical. Eve said something to Morris like "I don't care if you walk a hole in your Stacy Adams!" lol - I was DYING...

Watch Jerome in the control performance-stage bit!

Near end when the 4 of 'em are sliding to "I'm in control", watch jerome at the back!

It ain't that funny, but I thought it was quite funny 4 a min!

Actually, the "Control" video was released in the late fall of 1986,several months after 'UTCM' came out.I do remember Black Beat magazine reporting that Prince took Jerome off the payroll when he saw him in the "Control" video.Oddly enough,Jerome then signed a record deal with A&M Records, but nothing ever came of it.

I guess Prince was jelous then that Jam and Lewis became a huge succses with janet and when Jerome joined 4 the vid, Prince maybe felt betrayed!

Shame about his solo career, would of been interesting to c what it was like!
