The autograph rejection policy, did u guys hear about this? I was listening to the Doug Banks morning show and on the entertainment news, they said that P refused to give a girl with cerebral palsy an autograph. Well as we all know its very rare for P to give us fams an autograph, so the reason for her refusal was because if she would have gotten an autograph it wouldn't have been fair to the other fams who have been refused one all this time.
I think that although it seems cold she was little kid after all, it is a valid reason to refuse it. I mean thats like saying just cause I have an illness, i'm more worthy of an autograph than a healthy person. Plus if my child were healthy and got refused an autograph and then he signs for some other child just because they are sick, it wouldn't seem right and I would be highly pissed. What are your thoughts on this? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

What is this Hate on Prince? Personally why wouldn't he give a little child his Autograph? why make a sick person cry? I would give her my Autograph. I wouldn't think it a big deal. Make her happy and all.

That is so true, I think its good that he is sticking to his no autograph rule, no matter who you are. I would be just happy to get to meet him, what is the use of an autograpgh anyway? Most people just want one to sell it anyway.

He doesn't do autographs. What does someone having cerebral palsy have to do with that?

I just see this as the Flaming of Prince once more making him seem like he is Cruel when he gives to Charity and Is Religious. It's not Fair.

There's celebrities like Tom Cruise, who always take time to sign autographs and show appreciation for their audience. It's not idol worship, it's a nice memento of the moment, just like a picture.
When we write greeting cards to eachother and sign our names, is that wrong too? Prince milks his celebrity status only when it's convenient for him.

A college girlfriend had gotten Prince's autograph on a flight (she was from Minneapolis). She gave it to me as a gift. Very sweet. His name with the distinctive sign - and this was back in the late '80s
The story has a sad ending though. I broke up with her, and the vindictive girl came around hollering for the autograph back. To avoid a very unpleasant situation, I gave it back... but that pretty much sucked.

That would've shut Prince up.

He needs to realize the world doesn't revolve around him and his beliefs. He just comes off as a p®!©k to people when he does something like this. I don't consider him my idol and I sure as hell don't worship him. But if I asked him for an autograph and he refused, I'd tell him off for it. I would slap him, but I don't want to smacked by his bodygaurds. Lovesexy Funkateer

He should do it out of morality. How fucking hard is it to sign something. Just be thankful he is making money--little bastard. If you are religious, then act like it. I saw the girl, by the way--she was very sad. All you others say Hell Yea!!

All you fucking idiots who think an open soundcheck is your invitation to establish some personal relationship with Prince deserve exactly what you get. You're lucky he didn't cancel the whole soundcheck thanks to your little stunt. Betcha those "friendly" NPGMC members would've rolled your chair bound ass down the arena steps.
Nota bena, anyone else who's thinking of behaving like this loser. this is too funny!!! I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I've always understood that his whole point in not signing autographs is that it's a silly way of interacting with someone. Of the times that I've had brushes with celebrity, I value the times that I've focused on talking to them more than the times when all it was about was getting their name on a scrap of paper. I don't know what kind of interaction he had with the girl w/ cerebral palsy, but if he took the time to talk to her, it's more than most of us get.

I agree with you. I also think it's up to the artist if they wanna sign something or not. They should never feel obligated to do so. Who cares what others think. Back in '91, I got a chance to meet Boyz II Men at a record store when Cooleyhighharmony first came out. It was cool, but all we did was get a piece of paper signed and a picture taken by their road manager, Kalil. I shook their hands and that was it. Now on the other hand, meeting George Benson was so much cooler because we got to have a conversation. I have no momento of that occasion, just the memory of an encouraging exchange. I'll take that over an autograph any day.

I know whatcha mean, OMiles...I've had books and videos signed several times by John Waters, but I don't feel like I've ever met the man because it's always just a smile, "hi, how are ya, thanks" and move on. Though one time I made him a tape of outsider music and gave it to him at a signing, and we talked about our favorite bad musicians for a minute before I got shoved out of line.

Plain and simple: Signing autographs goes against the "rules" of the Jehovah's Witness religion. They see it as a symbol of idolatry which is a big no-no. Prince will not go against his faith and risk 40 lashes from Larry. It ain't gonna happen.

Symbols of idolatry are a big no-no..... explain the use of the "" symbol then. U can't pick and choose which symbols you will find to be "against the religion".... somehow P does it and no one questions it. I have 2 words 4 ya'll... FUCKING HYPOCRITES! ----- QUESTION RELIGION. DON'T BE A SHEEP! Both of you guys are mistaken. There is no hard, fast rule against autographs among JWs. Any Christian could see it as a form of idolatry. It's all about what each individual's conscience will allow. Other Christians may see it simply as a momento of the occasion. It's what's in the heart that matters. And is not an idol to be worshipped. The dude was using it as a name. I thought it was a creative thing to do, seeing as how there's no law against using a symbol to identify yourself.
