PR 20th Ann. Celebration: Essence Ads Everywhere! Even though I STILL argue that Purple Rain should be re-released on the big screen, there is some more good news for our Little Man:
This summer, Essence will celebrate the 20th Anniversary by holding a concert featuring Prince. Other artists will perform, but this will mainly be a concert that will honor Prince and his accomplishments. Well, there are advertisements EVERYWHERE...in every major black magazine, as well as ads on the radio. There was a really good one on the local station here in the D.C. area. Heads up, folks, black people ARE giving Prince his props this year. BTW, finally heard "Call My Name" on the radio. It was on 96.3, which is an adult contemporary station. I get the feeling that urban radio might not air this one, ya'll.

Well the ad that Anxiety posted certainly does not make it look like it's an event honoring Prince. He is playing but he isn't even the closing act of the festival and they don't mention anything special about his appearance.

It's just the 10th Anniversary Essence Music Festival.
Nothing special | |
