I *FINALLY* Saw the Half-Hour Viacom Special and ... DANG! Prince's solo acoustic set was the  ! He killed it. I thought he really showed off his chops (if he practices 'round the clock, in about 20 years he'll be as adept as Hendrix).
No, but seriously, I thought he showed great rapport with his fans. And, since it'll be the closest I'll come to catching him in person this summer, I was pleased. I hope, in his Guitar magazine interview(s), he explains how he came to possess that purple Taylor electric/acoustic guitar. It was SWEET! Taylors start in the $1,000+ range. One that has a cutaway and highly figured finishes (purple, at that) may have cost as much as $3,000. But, as a friend of mine suggested, Taylor probably sent it to him free of charge, just for the free advertising (as if Taylor needs that). All jokes aside, Prince killed the acoustic set. There. I said it. Remember that, the next time I talk about how he's not the greatest. He's still great at doing his thing. | |

Yeah, that was a GREAT show from beginning to end, a dream come true. I think 'Cream' was my favorite & the guitar playing right before he sang 'Sometimes it snows in April' was just glorious. | |

They've been making some of Prince's acoustics since the mid-'80s at least. I doubt it was free of charge for advertising, though...Prince wanted one without the Taylor logo at that time.
