Would You buy Entire Remastered Catalogue?

If WB put out the entire pre-Batman catalogue with remastered sound, but no bonus tracks, would you buy every remastered Prince disc; or which ones would you buy?

For me, I know a remastered "Lovesexy" would be the first purchase.

Good point actually - everything bar fucking Chaos & Disorder.

No amount of remastering will EVER make that album a quality release.

It will. But when it does, I'm really hoping for some bonus tracks: Not only unreleased material from that era but the 12" mixes & B-sides as well!
All in a nice box.
With great artwork.
And Xtensive liner notes, info, & unreleased photos.

Especially SOTT, man. That sound SUCKS!! I have to turn it up to like full to get the same levels as say Emancipation. In fact, whenever I make my own best of CD's the old material always goes way down so I have to turn it up and then when a newer track comes on the levels JUMP and my ears are blown out. That's why it is better to make a best of Prince 1979-1990, then a BOP 1991-2004 when all of the sound for some reason jumped up ten decibles.
I wish u heaven

Awww, heyyylll yeah. I've been semi-ranting about the fact that his first decade of output needs to be remastered and reissued for the past 5 years. 1999 needs it BADLY. Prince is hardheaded, it won't happen without his consent. If people think Musicology is getting a lot of folks to rediscover his back catalog, they haven't seen anything compared to what could happen if/when all those albums are updated sonically.

I'd agree 1999 seriously needs remixing and mastering. Then SOTT then ATWIAD. Were the songs on the hits 1 & 2 remastered? I can't remember off the top of my head.

Yes ... if the original album-concepts are untouched I will sure buy the Pre-Batman catalogue ...
I won't buy any post-LoveSexy remasters.

If the album-concepts are fu*ked .... I don't know ...
I hope they will release it as 2cd-sets:
disc 1 : the original album (just remastered) UNTOUCHED
disc 2 : outtakes and demos, hopefully not the ones we already have.

BUT ... I'm pretty sure ... if Prince will do the remastering himself ... he will fuck it up!!
It will not be the same anymore. Probably some bells or something will be overexposed .... maybe ....
he will really change the mixing, and believe me, it won't get any better.

I truly hope he won't do it himself, I have no confidence in his attempt to preserve the original mixing.

And those albums are a part of my life ... I'm not sure I'll be happy with a new sound .... I'm afraid Prince will make it sound clean ... erase all the rough edges.

I have no problem with the fact that 80's albums sound .... uh ... eighties!

So ... Prince ... at least, leave the remastering to the guys who are good at this!
Don't try to better the original mix ..... and leave the artwork intact:
I would like to see them released in a original copy of the vinyl sleeves!!!
(like the japanese releases of Led Zeppelin)

FUCK the liner notes... i hear you, but you know shit like that is gonna take AGES and will only cause more delay...by which time prince gets all pissy and pulls the project / input with WB....

JUST GIVE ME THE FRIGGIN CD'S!!!!

i seriously doubt this will happen since Musicology is HUGE.

i'm not hatin' but we all know prince is a stubborn fuck. thats his perogative. IF we rewind and Musicology had failed badly (in a Rainbow Children way), the tour had to be cut back due to bad sales.....

THEN, and only then would prince consider assisting WB with the re-releases. he needs a steady income. like anyone. he ain't poor, but knows that this year media interest would be at it's highest (due to PR 24th Anniversary), and that this was the cash cow year.

he chose to be bold and take the risk in trusting the 'new' material. fair play. it's paid off. but it backs up his beleif that the old material should stay in the past (won't talk about it in interviews, etc) and he doesn't need to re-release the old stuff. in some ways he's right.

there's a massive market as we know for the old albums remastered, but he knows full well that that market doesn't have a detrimental effect on potential buyers of the new albums. - no one is holding off buying Musicology untill they get a re-mastered copy of SOTT...

so the fans are the ones making the possibility of these re-masters an even further pipe dream.

my 2 pennies.

Everything from "1999" to "Lovesexy". And that would hopefully include "Black Album". My original copies of everything pre "!999" are sufficient and I could do without a remastered copy of "Batman". And if they did this, I would buy them on the day they were released!
