two songs come to mind..i heard a stripped down slow acoustic version of Thieves in The Temple waay back in like 1991-2...he sounded really vulnerable as oppsed to just angry like in the studio version
Also...listening to Jordan Knight's cover of ICNTTPOYM shedsa kind of sympathetic twist that the original doesn't

The bluesy, slowed down version of ICNTPOYM he played at the last celebration is fantastic. In the original, he sounds happy he can't do nuffin for the girl, in this he sounds more sympathetic and sad about her situation.

ICNTPOYM? I guess it's the Prince-guess-the-song-title-by-far-too-oblivious-abbreviations time? Oh, "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" -> took me a minute to figure that one out.

Ani Difrenco did a great ballad version of "When You Were Mine" live with Maceo Parker. Can be found on filesharing programs, highly recommended.

I wish New kids on the block would make a reunion album, their last "Face the music" (1994) bombed when to me it was their best and most mature album! Great ballads with killer tracks "Dirty dawg" and "If you go away" (a full version as opposed to the original radio version released a few YEARS before 1994) It came out at the worst possible time! Boybands in the Us at that time were none!
