But I'm also an Oregonian, and I like to mess with words myself, and I live in a 'Ghetto town' (Untill this year, our High school hallway floors were concrete with dirt on it ) so I usually notice when there are changes in speech.... unless I'm spacing out. Which will happen often. Ok. I'm rambling, I'll summarize it. I guess what I'm trying to say is, that some people can have 'the Fargo' accent, while others around them don't. It can vary on upbringing etc. I have one friend who even calls her parents 'Mother' and 'Father' while I'll even go and call my mum, em mum. (and I am in no way British. Not that every one in Britan calls there moms 'mum,' but yeah) Ok. shutting up now. Thankyou!

People from Minnesota sound funny, like Terence and Phillip from South Park and all those canadians(Peter Jennings has a slight case of it). Whenever I hear Prince talk, he doesn't sound like that at all. How does he avoid it?
Footnote: I have nothing against Minnesotans or Canadiens. But y'all do sound funny, just like southerners sound funny too. He doesn't go out man, that's why. He stays in his little house Prince has been and could live in Rome etc.., where have you been? How big your house? Or apartment? Oh my, oh my.

On'em he said it like "Crame"-sound pretty country-like 2 me. & on da song he said it just like many would usually say it or sing it. I noticed that too! Figured it was just an accent thing ...:...Must I become naked?

In general, people with the hardcore accents you hear in the movie "Fargo" are from Northern Minnesota. Once you get about 1/2 hour North of the Twin Cities this accent grows stronger and stronger. People from Duluth to Fargo in particular have this accent. People from the Twin Cities do too, but usually only if they are from Northern MN orginally. There is also a variation of this accent which is the Wisconsin accent. It is slightly different and can be heard in the movie "Miracle" as being used by Kurt Russel, who plays the Hockey Coach Herb Brooks. Damn right....us folks from the Twin Cities don't sound those fucking dopes in "Fargo!" Give me a fucking break... "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

EEK ~ I suppose I sound like Fargo then? And see, I definately noticed how they were talking in Fargo...it didn't sound normal to me. Prince does sound normal to me though...like no noticible accent

Prince does talk funny with that exact accent (on particular words) in some interviews and in rehearsals when he is relaxed and out of the "prince rockstar" mode.
He also uses it for comic effect on his "white" voices in songs. "Come out with your hands up" in Bob George... or that part in "Call the Law" witht he policeman's voice. or in that 1999 press conference where he reclaimed the name prince. He don't really sound like that unless he's serious i guess. But if u look at those past jay leno shows especially the one when he played a practical joke on Jay, then u will see how obvious his voice changes from that deep sexy tone, to the wild high pitched crazy sound. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

kind of like how madonna tries to sound like she was born in the royal family nowadays, or how tina turner tries to sound british just cause she lives over there. They both know they frontin'. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I always thought prince's accent was a total put on but in listening to some of his recent, off the cuff dialogues, I don't think it is, i think it's just the way he talks, very unusual and distinctive. Believe me, when you grow up in unique surroundings people often don't know what to make of it. I'm Indian and people often mistake me for texan, mexican, southern because of the bizarre mix in accents between my black stepdad, and my indian dad, I realize i have a strange accent but I always say i've lived here all my life, (seattle).
