'3 chains 'o' gold' did you dig it???

O.K, I'd like honest opinions about what 3 chains 'o' gold movie was about, and if you liked it, because I was left dissatisfied with the ending, the beginning, and whatever!!! It made no sense and I also think needed a more tightly structured plot. Did you like it, and what did it mean to you???

P.S if someone presses huh? on the note that says 'I only wanted to see you laughing in the Purple Rain'...that's sad.

To me...I think it was simply a long music video...set to the music of the Symbol album. I don't think it was supposed to "enlighten" us...do u? Did we actually think Prince found Mayte' in Eygpt...and that SHE was indeed the crowned princess of Cairo?!?! OF COURSE WE DID!!!! LMAO

ok, it didn't tie together well, but I think its like one of u said, it was just like one long music video...several linked together, to make one musical experience. I mean, it was no deep thang like Pink Floyd's The Wall, but the videos themselves were cool. And the beautiful bathing Mayte's.....wow! redface

The story was an allegorical tale of the music business, unconditional love, the resurection and Prnce's own identity struggles. Mayte was the embodiment of purity - purity of love, soul and musical expression. Prince discovered (rediscovered) her untouched and precious and the dessert being held captive by those who wanted to exploit her, i.e., the record companies and even Prince himself in his past. But through her unconditional love, Prince finds his true soul again, casting away his former self (7) and resisting temptation (The Continental). In the end Prince is reborn, his spirit purifide and his muse is in place to inspire a new aesthetic in music. The 3 chains of course represen the holy trinity - The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Prince is being told to give up the chains (his faith) because it will lead to his downfall if he holds on to them. He refuses, and proclaims that he will give up his fame, fortune and his association with the record companies beforehe gives up his faith.

But then again, seeing as how I just made all of this up on the spot,I could be wrong. LOL.
