Why is P only singing 2 songs from his first 3 albums...

'I Feel For You' and I think 'When You Were Mine?' I mean, if he can perform songs like 'Shhh' and 'Sometimes It Snow in April' why won't he at least perform 'Sexy Dancer,' 'Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad,' 'Uptown' or 'I Wanna Be Your Lover?' Is he concerned that the majority of the audience my not be familiar with those songs and cause him to lose their attention? And yes, ultimately I know it is his decision to play what he wants too. But I am curious... cool

I guess he just plays what he feels like playing. Who the hell knows what other reasons there could be, you know?

Well, you know... I can't answer for Prince but - out of the old songs you mentioned - When You Were Mine is the only one I have any desire to hear. I think Shhh and SISIA are great, though. Otoh, I wouldn't mind hearing In Love live. biggrin

Really...I am not too fond of When You Were Mine because it's a corny little pop song, sort of like Delirious and I Could Never Take THe Place of Your Man, which are songs I don't particular care for either. Don't get me wrong, I do like Shhh and SISIA but those songs weren't mainstream, so it's odd to me that he would play those songs but won't play a few of the songs that put him on the map.

"I Wanna Be Your Lover" is his biggest hit song before 1999. It gets a lot of airplay even these days, with people still requesting to hear it. Even my ex-girlfriend who didn't know about most of Prince's Top 10 hits, knew this one. I think it'd get a huge reaction if he performed it live. Not sure why he's excluding it during a greatest hits tour.

Anyway, I'd love to hear him perform "It's Gonna Be Lonely," "I'm Yours," and "Just as Long as We're Together." I never did like "I Feel For You" much, even when Chaka did it.

I am so feeling your post...that's exactly what I am talking about. I think the audience would be pleasantly surprised if he sung at least one of those earlier hits.

I love Chaka's version of 'I Feel For You' but never cared for P's version, so it wouldn't be a biggie if he took it off the set list...boxed

He can't please everybody no matter which songs he picks. His catalog is way too large for that.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
