Purple Rain - the original recording

The original recording of Purple Rain - the song - is like 14 minutes long. Why do you think it was shortened? OR, do you think he screwed up on that verse - "No I dont want your money naw naw..." - it really sounds like a throwaway verse, and the chorus really pales compared to the other choruses - do you think he was just letting the tape roll, letting the band get into it for the next verse, or do you think he MEANT for that verse to be in there?

Always wondered about it.

It was much better when he cut that out.

Probably just tried it out, heard it back, thought it needed a prune, like a bush that's got out of control. Just needed to tighten up the song a bit.
