I know Prince is a JW and all and I'm learning to respect that more and more each day. (not that it mattered) However, I really like the beat to Erotic City.

Couldn't he just change the words into a cleaner version and still let people to jam to it's funky rhythms at the concert?

He did it with other songs, why not do it with all the rest.

It's the music that we love anyway...

It is a great song.
But.. dare i say... Arto Lindsay's version from 1997 is IMO far superior to P's original! Its just hypnotic, thrilling... and he sings "we can FUCK until the dawn"

And in Arto's version there isnt the whoo-o-o-whoo-o-o part, which always turns me off.

just replace "fuck" with "funk", thats what my older brothers told me it was after i was singing erotic city in a shopping center quite loudly...many moons ago, i think i was like 8 or 9

It doesn't matter if he sings we can funck until the dawn as long as he doesnt butcher the title in Theocratic City or bs like that

I think he has changed the words already, its a song called 1+1+1 is 3. I couldn't agree more though. Erotic City is one of my all time favourites. I love the fact that he opened the Lovesexy tour with a B-SIde and such a wicked one at that. I keep hearing this track in clubs and bars lately. Its the kind of retro 80's fuink thing that a lot of people are into at the moment.

well he is already singing some of those songs on tour and just changing the words. i read in an article that he changed the words in DMSR from "shake your body like a whore, to shake your body like u want some more."

and he did another song like that too. but when he did cream on those 5 tv stations, i couldn't really tell where he had changed any words from that song. Correct me if i'm wrong though.

Erotic City, Doves Cry, Kiss, I Want to be UR Lover. Any RB Club in DC (or mixed) play these songs to this day. You can count on it

There are other bars that are frequented by a more white establisment that play songs like Little Red Corv, u Got the Look & Lets Go crazy

Any club you got to in DC other than an Acid Jazz, or House still plays Prince's music

Last Friday I was at Ozios in DC and the actually played Illusion, Coma, Pimp....

That's the way I feel. Besides, I personally don't feel a need to be bumping to something that sexual in front of 50,000 strangers...I'd rather play it at home when I'm alone with my wife (which is never when you have a 2 year old, but I digress...)

I would rather spin the disc than here a tame version live that would never be as good as the original!

The kind frequented by people who remember prince more for the whole TAFKAP thing and perhaps purple rain than those seriously in need of a funk injection. I just love the fact that a B-side can be played in a club and get such a great reaction. Some people say he's mad to put some of his greatest songs on B-Sides, but it all adds to the mans allure IMO.
