Okay, I've seen Prince about 20 times and a Prince show is ALWAYS a memorable experience but here are some of my highlights! smile

1999 Tour-April 3, 1983 Denver

You always remember your first time! I was 11 years old and I remember being BLOWN away by The Time. The music, the steps, the suits! They were amazing (I was lucky too, Jimmy and Terry were fired the very next week!) Prince was amazing of course, and Lisa and Jill Jones looked sooooo sexy sharing a microphone in Lisa' "apartment".

Parade-July 3rd, 1986 Denver

I remember hating Lisa Barber the girl from Sheridan Wyoming, who won the Mtv contest to have Prince and the Revolution come to your town, because I just KNEW she wasn't a fan like me! wink Well, I've very glad she won because since they were in the area they played a Hit and Run show here in Denver. The show was amazing!! They played rare gems like The Dance Electric, Soft and Wet, Alexa de Paris (w/Wendy),and A Case of You for Joni Mitchell who was in the audience. Joni later came up to sing on "Purple Rain" and Sheila E. came out for "A Love Bizzare". Sheila had on a white teddy and an overcoat. And for the line "A kiss on the spine", she leaned over with her trenchcoat hanging off her side and kissed Prince right on his ass. (everyone got that visual? smile )

Lovesexy-Novemeber 3rd, 1988

The best show of my life. I was in the front row between Prince's microphone and the basketball hoop. This show changed my life!! I was 16 and I felt like I was on a cloud with Prince as the steam poured down on me as he sang "Anna Stesia". The piano medley also included "International Lover" where he did the whole "Am I qualified?" bit.

Glam Slam West-April 17, 1993

My first AFTERSHOW!!! We were like two feet from the stage and the NPG never sounded better. Songs like "The Sacrifice of Victor", "Come", "Papa", "Alphabet St."and "Race" were played. And I remember Prince came out and he looked PISSED!!! He must have just had a meeting with Warner's or something because the next night at the Act 1 show he mentioned changing his name for the first time. So I digress. I always wanted to see Prince play bass and I remember my heart being in my throat when he strapped one on and played "777-9311" and then gave it back to Sonny saying "I just wanted to make sure it worked".

Glam Slam-July 1994

Amazing guitar that night ending with "Soul Sacrifice"

Paisley Park August 5, 1995
If someone told me back in the 80's that I would be attending a show at PAISLEY PARK I never would have believed them! Great show that got cut short though due to the cops stopping the show at 2! Got to hear "7" and "The Cross" and a really cool version of "Skin Tight" from the Ohio Players.

The Church-Oct.5, 1997 Denver

An aftershow in my hometown finally! This was Chaka's last night on the tour so they jammed for over two hours.

Jam of the Year Oct 12, 1997 Irvine CA

DAMN!! Irvine has an amazing sound system. Highlight is when Sheila E. came out to jam, hadn't seen them play together in YEARS!! Oh, and they made up for it!!

Celebration show at Northrop 2000

Seeing Prince play with his brothers Bobby Z.,Dr.Fink, and Mark Brown was a dream come true. A lot of bullshit has been talked about Prince "dissing" Bobby, but anyone who was there and knows how tight these guys really are no that Prince was just teasing him. And Prince's energy level went thru the roof when they came out to jam!

Celebration 2001 Second show

This was PURE Prince. Highlight for me was BAMBI!! Damn that was amazing! And probably my favorite Prince moment EVER was "I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore", his voice never sounded better and tears were coming from the speakers. He even wiped tears from his eyes after the song. God, I love this man!!!

Sorry this is sooooo damn long but hey, I've been blessed with seeing Prince, and these are my highlights! smile

Ok, I actually have a whole website devoted to this very story, but I'll share a short version with everyone.

It was the Jam Of The Year Tour...Jan. 2, 1998, and it was my first Prince show ever. After camping out in the cold weeks before, I scored tix for the second row right in the middle....which is absolutely awesome for anybody's show, let alone P's.

So, after GCS did their thing and the crew set up for Prince, I was ready for the rumble...and out walks the ultimate pimp in the world, Prince R. Nelson. The cocky attitude when he came out said it all....Prince knew he was King, and if anybody in that building had any doubts, he made sure to show them for the next few hours.

Being so close to the stage, I felt everything the band played, and I can actually say I got P to crack a smile...we made eye contact and I 'offered' him my sister, who was standing next to me. Horny fucker. wink

So anyways, during the encore, they started pulling people up on stage to dance....so of course, I threw my arms in the air with the "I'm the man" pose, and Marva Wright and those big thighs looked right at me and said "You". At that moment, I felt like 40 hands push me on my back...all of the people in my section were cheering me on like "Go man! Go!" (After standing in line freezing for hours to get tickets, you get a special bond with people).

So, I got up on stage and Prince tells me something slick like "Show me what u got, phat" (I'm a big muthaphucka), so I showed his lil ass what I was made of. Talk about something I'll never forget....to be up there on stage with the guy whose music I grew up to...and a bunch of freaks....it was a dream come true.

Later that night at the afterparty, I saw P again, but I didn't get a chance to strike up a conversation with him...instead, I let Mr. Hayes talk a hole in my head. Brutha was cool.

So anyways, that's my most memorable, and only so far, Prince Concert Experience. Cool, huh?

Cafe De Paris, London (1998)

A wonderful experience, seeing him in a small venue, surrounded by great people and friends and ending up in the Beautiful Strange video for something like 1 1/2 seconds! smile

Other than being impressed by his bringing Hell's Angels and Black Panthers together in ONE forum?
During the JOTY tour, he was doing one of those back-of-the-head-to-butt guitar solos and caught my eye. He popped up and whisked around as if he'd seen a ghost. Needless to say, I'll never listen to "Curious Child" with Mayte on the brain again. lol And, oy, the sound? ... my ex (a sound engineer) talked about it the entire 4-hour drive home. Not to mention the 30-second eye contact, "You know, for a minute, I thought he was looking at you." Jealousy - cute at the time. smile More than anything, I was impressed by how everyone got along (passing around binoculars, dancing with one another, etc.). NEVER attended another artist's concert with that much LOVE in the room and doubt I ever will again. Peace!!!

Germany, Hamburg, Millerntor, Lovesexy '88.

One of those summernights where the sky is looking all purple and as usual in Hamburg it started to rain a little. What else can you ask for, he played purple rain and was "mesmerized" looking up at that special sky. Perfect Moment smile

Back when me and Gemini went to the Universal Amp. for the Act 1 (?) tour, and had made a banner that read, "MPLS in the House". Prince spotted it and read it out loud.

We almost collapsed, lol...

There are many other special moments...but this one came to mind first.
