Around the World in a Day...

Does any one remember the original CD packaging. Does anyone have pictures to post?

No pictures but I always thought it kind of sucked. It certainly doesn't fit anywhere in a normal cd collection.

I remember it.

There was some kid hanging on to balloons, but it was a sticker placed on the plastic of the LP. Once that plastic came off, so did the sticker.

That's all I remember.

I liked the packaging of the ATWIAD CD - it was very economical, in that the longbox (which was the norm back then) doubled as a tri-fold sleeve/lyrics sheet with a little slot in the center for the CD itself, which was housed in a slipcover sleeve (kinda like the Musicology concert CDs) with ATWIAD cover art on it.

It didn't fit very well into a CD collection, but interestingly, the tri-fold sleeve/longbox thingie was tall enough that you could stick it into your vinyl collection, for whatever good that's worth (I guess it made more sense back in '85). I still have my copy of this...the trifold longbox thingie is all tucked away in storage at my mom's house, though I have the disc/slipcover thing w/ my other Prince CDs...the disc itself is still in great shape, though the slipcover ain't aging so well...

i still have my long box case! it was too nice to toss.

my favorite bit, though, is the fact that the actual cd is in a soft cloth sleeve...just like the vinyl would have been in a protective sleeve. very smart!
