my take: name chane/ Warners feud ..no promation. Nothing would have help this album after the Top 40 hit Letitgo. Although I would have love to see what "Loose" would have done

His most under-rated single EVER!

Damn freakin RIGHT - every moment of the maxisingle was wonderful, and that's a pretty tall order considering it was one in a long, long string of samey (and largely crappy) remix discs released as poor excuses for "extended singles".

JonSnow

Just As Long As We're Together
- the obvious choice

Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?
- the obvious choice

Dirty Mind
- should have been When U Were Mine

Let's Work
- OK, but Private Joy would've been better

Little Red Corvette
- the obvious choice

Let's Go Crazy
- of course

Pop Life
- i wasn't crazy about it at the time, thought it should have been Paisley Park. But looking back, I think this was the best choice.

Mountains
- NO!! Should have been Girls & Boys. Immediate Top 5.

If I Was Your Girfriend
- possibly his best song, an worst single choice. What an irony smile U Got the Look should have been 2nd, or I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man

Glam Slam
- should have worked, but somehow didn't. There was little momentum after Alphabet St, and in retrospect I doubt any of the tracks would have done much better.

Partyman
- the best choice

New Power Generation
- the best choice, but again - he was really uncool because of the flop movie, and really nothing would have saved this project.

Cream
- the best choice

My Name Is Prince
- dumb move, but it ended up not hurting that much

Peach
- didn't really matter

Space
- definitely, but alas - no promotion

I Hate U
- i consider this the 1st single. Gold was a good choice, IMHO as 2nd.

The Holy River
- Sleep Around. But again, I don't think anything would have burned up the charts.

I first heard the song "Lovesexy" on the radio, a few days before the album hit the stores...that song sounded GREAT on radio. I remember waiting for it to come on so I could tape it, and when it finally did, a friend of mine overheard the booming bass and Prince's deep voice, and said "What is that??"... lol...I said "That's Prince...nice, huh?"

Always wished it had been released as a single...

I remember hearing (on the radio or MTV) that "Lovesexy" was going to be a single, then they released "I Wish U Heaven" instead. Anyone else hear the same?

I read somewhere that Lovesexy was supposed to be the first single off of Lovesexy. ANd that there are remixes in "non-circulation". Though how to verify non-circulation material is beyond me.

I think I read it on a thread here about the Black Album..someone posted a snipet from a book or something.

Personally, I think Glam Slam was an awful choice for a second single...especially editing out the best parts. But that album wasn't really screaming any single to begin with. Eye No and when 2 r in love would have been ok choices and anna stasia....hmmm I want to say that it could have been one of his best singles...however was way too cryptic to be taken out of context on it's own.

"Glam slam" sounded way too niave for '88! Newjack was on the rise and everyting was sounded harsh on pop radio! "Glam Slam" 4 then sounded very out of place 4 '88! I love the track though!

No other single could of been released really though though "Dance on" may of worked! The vid 4 "Glam slam" is good but a performance video, 4 '88 theres no excuse! Concepts 4 a vid could of been fun!

"Lovesexy" would of worked better! More upbeat, easier to get onto radio!
