So how do you, guys, see Prince as a person?

As you can see, I am new here and for those who haven´t read my introduction in the non-prince section I just wanna tell you this is my first time on a Prince forum. I am not a die-hard fan, but i do love his music. I´ve been a fan for only few years now and he hasn´t been out there in the public eyes in the recent years, so I don´t know that much about him as a person and since he´s not very popular in our country, I also don´t know any real Prince fans, so I wanted to ask you WHAT DO YOU THINK OF HIM AS A PERSON! Do you find him completely normal or do you think that he´s weird in some ways. Cause I thought he was a freak before I "got to know" him through his music and don´t get me wrong I do like him even as a person now. Although since I haven´t followed his carrer from the beginning, I don´t know what to think of who he was in the beginning. Cause I know he has changed.
I´ve read over here a lot of MJ topics (I am his fan also, you see), discussing whether his behaviour is appropriate and normal. So what do you think? Has Prince´s behaviour always been appropriate and normal? if not, in what ways do you think he´s not normal. And how would you discribe him?
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Who are we to judge what is normal. From a "normal" person's point of view, Prince is gay and Michael Jackson a peadophile.

Fame will seriously fuck someone's brain over.

To me, Prince is a kewl dude that makes great music. His music meant alot to me in the past, but live he still rocks my musical world. But so do Bjork and Franz Ferdinand.

I never cared for Prince's romances, only liked to hear where his images come from, like some lines from the song Crystal Ball are supposedly to have been about his then girlfriend, Susannah Melvoin. That is the info I like.

For the rest, I wish him loads of happiness.

see exactly. I like your point. WHO IS NORMAL!???!! I also figured that there´s no way for me to judge either Prince or MJ! I simply accepted that they are different and that´s it.

He's an ass. Simple as that. He can turn on the charm when it suits him, but he's still rude and completely self-involved.
As rivetting as his RRHOF performance was, he was totally disrespectful of George Harrison and the other musicians on stage with his theatrics. He didn't even come out for the traditional finale with the other inductees and performers.
His conversion to JH is typical; he uses his "enlightenment" to set himself above and alienate others.
Of course I'm not challenging his talent. He's been my favorite for years. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with him on a personal level.
I'm constantly amazed and depressed by those "orgers" who look to Prince for a lifestyle and an identity. Some even use his style of writing ("eye" for I, U for you, 2 for to) when they post with no discernable sense of irony. It's pathetic.
I dig his music, musicianship, and performance abilities. Period.

Is this gonna turn into an MJ thread?!

I think P is a great musician. Personally, I am not sure how well we would get on. I think he can be a pretty mean bastard at times - but hell, can't we all. Ithink "weirdness" in stars is great - it keeps me entertained. As long as it doesn't harm anyone.

Difference between P and MJ's "weirdness" is that P's does not involve a court case.

as for me, I wanted this to be Prince topic...
But hey it´s not MJ´s fault that there are sick people trying to bring him down....cause as you know I believe he´s innocent....and his weirdness leaves him vulnarable to this. Although I must say that I have never read any humiliating articles on Prince or anyone else, but on MJ I do everyday. As if MJ was the only freak in the world.

Nah there were tonnes of humiliating tabloid articles on Prince. The rumours round the little guy are rife.

Which one's are true I couldn't say but his rib cage does look pretty tiny... lol

Really. I haven´t read any. Maybe cause he´s really not very popular here. Nobody really cares about him in this republic (I come from Czech republic). So they probably don´t care to even print anything on him over here. But does he have any recent scandals? Cause I really have been a fan for only 5 years and he seems to lead a rather quiet life, and before when he was really big I have never read anything about him, so I don´t know about any of his scandals. I just know he had troubles with Warner Brothers and that he had a child that died and was accused by some newspapaers of "killing it" (don´t know if that´s true or not), but that´s it

See guys and that´s what I love about MJ! (ok didn´t want this to become an MJ topic), how he´s always polite to everyone. It´s funny that even people who meet him say that they have been shocked how polite he was. Like when MJ had a concert in Prague, people from the hotel he was staying at were shocked and really pleased to see how nice he was. So with all this weirdness Mj is at least a polite and decent man! He´s never dissed anyone publically. I really like this about him.
But let´s keep it on Prince. I wanna hear from you more..thanks

Oh hell there's tonnes. I gotta go soon but people on here will fill you in for sure. There was the baby mysteriously passing away from some kind of genetic defect (allegedly passed on from him), his treatment of various women in his life (including his first wife), removing body parts in order to pleasure himself....the man is fabulous tabloid fodder.

Apparently he makes music sometimes too.

Really I didn´t know that. See and this is exactly what amazes me, that you are PRINCE fan and think that MJ´s behaviour is inapropriate. MJ seems to look like a regulare dude compared to Prince sometimes.smile)

No one "earns" the right to be self-centered. They just are, and it looks bad. Hopefully, he's working on it. Seems to be.

Based on how his fans respond to him in concert, I can't blame him for having a big ego.

Yeah, except he had it from the git go.

I have enourmous respect for the man and his music. It has long been and remains a big part of my life. I disapprove of many things he's done but accept he's an imperfect human just all of us, he has to deal with the consequences of his behavior himself and he doesn't answer to me. I wish I could say he's a real standup guy and someone I'd like to be buds with, but alas. Sometimes you just have to separate the art from the artist.
You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

thanks for your info. I only saw one interview with him and that was the one with Scarry Spice in Paisley park and than I was at the first celebration at the Paisley park where I saw him and he seemed very shy (well off stage at the party) and in the interview with Melanie sweet. Sometimes I didn´t get his humour though, but he was sweet. I never saw him acting arrogant. But as you can see I know deep shit about him compared to you, but I´ve heard that he had an ego and was suprised to see him the way I did. So I don´t know, do you think that I was just lucky seeing him being nice?

Prince probably suffers from the 'Napolean Complex' because of his height....he makes makes up in his ego what he lacks in height....just a theory... cool
