All you oldheads: After posting on the .org today the song 'Crazy You' kept going through my head. Do you agree that the arrangements on this cut were simply attention-getting? Another cut, 'Just As Long As We're Together' is a masterpiece to me. Remember the pulsating jamming after the lyrics? The HANDCLAPSANDFINGASNAPS? The falsetto-on-alto vocal arrangement? Damn, I could go on and on. Anyway, I just wanted to start a discourse on this Abbum in particular.

I LOVE "Crazy You".. I only wish it was about 3 minutes longer

For You is his most and only "dated" album.. BUT it is really good still.. I kinda have the feeeling that he was created that album WHILE he was in a recording studio.. and the clock was running on cost.. ( I do not mean it is rushed.. more that it was NOT completly thought out before he got there.. like all the other prince albums) also.. Uptown was prince's studio at his basement.. so he could "play" there under his own terms.. and just feeling comfortable

Crazy You...my favorite song from For You

Crazy You is the song that completely hooked me on P. I agree that he shouldve done more that 3 mins (is it even 3 mins? seems much shorter). To me.....For You has to be his most underrated album. Brilliance from album #1.

I agree that Crazy You is the real gem of the album.

It was really cool th Color Me Bad used at sample of the guitar-riff on their 2. album. Also it was covered by a Danish radio-host named Shirley for her debut album.

This album is the bomb! It reminds me of some 70s funk albums that didn't get a lot of air play. 'Just As Long As We're Together' is one great number. The guitar jam session at the end puts me in a feel good mood every time. I would love to see Prince play this live. The entire album at the celebration would be the ultimate treat. My favorite, 'Baby.'

I like " In Love"

i love the for you album. i love everything about it.
the acappella at the beginning, crazy you is one of my favs, i'm yours rock out and his afro is the bomb. i also like the photo of him sitting on the bed with his guitar with no clothes on.

I have to give the gem of the album to "Baby" also. My uncle had some old Prince 45s (remember those?). He had "Soft and Wet" and "Baby" was on the flip side. I was into Prince already thus my interest in his 45 collection, but I had heard nothing from any album previous to 1999 yet. I could not stop playing "Baby". I just thought it was wonderful for Prince to be talking about getting some girl preggers. And the music and harmonies were gorgeous. I eventually bought For You and from the opening acappella track "For You" on I was hooked and getting further and further into the genius of Prince.

For those of you saying "Crazy You" is too short....remeber, DIVINITY6 wrote a SECOND VERSE!!!! (that was too good to pass up!)

I've got a live version of Crazy You, from the early 80s, it's lovely.

Just as long as we are together is definitely one of my favorites...
