It may be on Launch.com? Anyway love that song tons! Despite the diversity of the tracks on the album, it all works very well somehow! Lovely sounding song! Video is nice (lighting, direction, atmosphere etc...) but oddly u c Tony M. strumming a guitar? Did tony ever play guitar on tour/record?

Yep, LOVE it! i always thought that lyric went, "he realized that she was new to love, now even every way..." dang, i need to read those lyrics sheets more close-like and stuff...

I mentioned this bit about Tony M playing the gtr studiously wearing a pair of glasses in another thread, never checked it again to follow up. Does anyone else remember his saying in an interview how he was almost part of the Revolution in the Purple Rain days? Maybe he played gtr first and competed for the spot that went to Wendy? I agree! Prince has so many great songs, that some like this one get lost in the mix... "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.
RIAA 'nuff said. | |

Prince always plays his solos for the song. Always perfect! "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

He did. But he didn't actually perform any parts that you could hear in the concert mix. Just some backing guitar to make him look busy on the stage.

I dunno... I always found the lyrics a little creepy. You know, "she was new to love" and "why is age more than a number, when it comes 2 love?"
It sound even worse when you realise that the preceding song "Love 2 the 9s" has the line: "Age? Jailbait". Then later in the album, on 'Eye Wanna Melt With U', you have the line: "Don't look now, but there's a river of blood. U must have been a virgin. What am I guilty of?" Probably R. Kelly's favourite Prince album.

I can't think of R. Kelly anymore without thinking of Chappelle's Show.
I do agree with those that love the album. The only songs I've never been too crazy about are "The Max" & "The Sacrifice of Victor"...and even those I don't necessarily hate. If I have to pick my fave 3 on it, "Morning Papers" is definitely one. The others would be "Sweet Baby" and "Damn U"...followed really really really closely by "And God Created Woman" and "The Continental".

Kelly's favourite Prince album. I think he was a bit self-conscious about Mayte being so much younger than him, and him having first met her when she was 13 or something - but kudos to Prince, he faced it head on in his music and even turned into a fairytale concept for the album! But he's used other similar lyrics - in Adore, he says "Was I the first? Was I your every fantasy?"

Wonderful Lyrics inspired by true love Indeed..he does seem inspired performing this song!! I actually am in tears sometimes listening to the song...my favorite line in the song goes-- "They could contemplate the entire universe or just one star..." "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

Now that you mention it, me too...I love watching her as Prince's main dancer for his emancipation tour... "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

This song was an unexpected surprise to me when it 1st came on the radio. Heartstopper. Again. "If he poured his heart into a glass & offered it like wine..she could drink & be back..(and still be on my feet..oh still be on my feet) always made me think of Joni's "Case of U". Yet Damn You" is there too. So,...double heartstopper. His vocal lick "...all I want to say is that my psychedelic shouts" makes me lightheaded. No end to the "eargasm" abilities.

Love his look in the video...love the moves, love the plaid, love the solo...it IS a standard, Novabr...a Prince-standard.
