I know what u mean, I love the song, but I thought it was a horrible choice for a single. I could already see people talking -- Prince as a "girlfriend"? And the weirdness of the sound. There were so many straight-up hits on the album, but "Girlfriend"? Prince was already losing ground on the charts, and here he comes out with this very commercial album and releases one of the most non-commercial songs off the album? It just helped add to his weirdness and decline in popularity.

1. The Lovesexy cover and album. I missed the girls, and it seemed like at the promo's he did for this was so HOMO looking. I like a straight pussy eating Prince.

2. When he stared releasing bad songs, instead of the good bootleg ones. Hold it amin, that would be before the Lovesexy era.

Watching Graffiti Bridge--The girl kept saying "It's just around the corner" and someone from the audience shouted "We don't get the concept!" to which the entire audience laughed in agreement. They laughed at her getting hit by a car, too, which says a lot about the quality of the movie.

The whole symbol thing with his name change, Chaos & Disorder did not move me, & News just made me wonder where was he trying to go. I was lost like he was during those times.

I can think of a few...

1.Prince selling out with a contrived hip hop image and overall hip hop influence in his music.

2.Changing his name to , thus guaranteeing no one would ever take him seriously anymore.

3.Releasing stupid singles like IIWYGF, Betcha By Golly Wow, Musicology, and The Greatest Romance.

4.The whole war with WB, including Prince childishly releasing half assed albums like Come and C&D.

5.Making the Grafitti Bridge album/movie.

6.Making Lovesexy one continuous track.

7.Larry Graham being shoved down our throats.

8.Making overly mellow sounding, jazzy songs like Muse 2 the Pharoah and Rainbow Children.
