I neva really cared 'bout Weird Al. Only time I watch him/see him on tv is on 'I Love The 80s'(tellin' the 'Then & Now' segment). If nebody I'd like 2 see Dave Chappelle do'a parody of Prince songs. So many come 2 mind.

He did a good job on some of R.Kelly's songs. I think he used 1 or 2 from TP-2 album & probably the Best Of Both Worlds. I know he did defintely do'a parody of "Feelin' On Yo Booty". It wuz called "I Wanna Piss On You".

Tuesday,May 4,2004 @ 10:00-11:00pm(ET) it wuz on Comedy Central. I think it started off da 2nd half hour OR it wuz eitha afda the Prince skit(Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories)--which started the show off. All I know the R.Kelly parody wuz funny as hell & as always the Prince skit had me dyin', lol

All in IMO Dave should handle this. & I'm sure 2day's Prince probably wouldn't mind.

Nebody else see the same?

I think the moment for Al to parody Prince has passed. Al's time has passed on making new gems. Every so often...but not that often anymore.

Dave did a good job and I'd like to see more of him doing Prince. He seems to bring back the characters that were well received.

Agreed,Al ayn all that now & like I said b4 I rarely see him on tv. Now Dave he's da man 4 this. I just watched da Prince Skit again earlia 2nite enjoyed it as always. Man ! I'm hopin' DC does anotha skit or do'a parody of Prince's songs.

I'm listenin' 2 LRC & imagining Dave performing it like Prince he'd haf2 do a small break dance move-it'd be funny as hell. OR "Darling Nikki"...him screaming like P would be a sight 2 see.."Scandalous"..him havin' a red suit on & type grindin'/humpin' da mic stand & twirlin' likah ballarina & slow high jumps in da air. OMG! just thinkin' 'bout it is makin' me laugh crazy. But I'm just name'n a few so many more I'd like 2 see.

I think I might wanna just see DC imitate his vids but make it even funnier, lol

Prince may be the only one to consistently turn down Weird Al, but others have done so. There were some hard feelings about 10 years ago when Al asked Coolio if he could parody "Gangsta's Paradise." Coolio said no, but Al did it anyway, resulting in "Amish Paradise." Coolio was pissed.

Gangsta's Paradise is all sampled from Stevie Wonder's 'Pastime Paradise', so it'd be Stevie he'd have to ask, not Coolio.

"Private Boy"

Same Lyrics. In the video Michael Jackson coaches the kids by saying," I bought you little Elmo, you been mine ever since, but if the police ask you, you belong to Prince". Then points to a freaked out Prince impersonator.

anyway i thought weird al would need stevie wonders permission not coolios since coolio borrowed his sample from stevie maybe weird al had no knowledge of pastime paradise then

Weird Al did do a parody of a Prince Interview. He changed it so it looked like he was interviewing Prince - asking Prince silly questions and Prince answering - it was quite funny. Prince had an entourage of ppl behind him all dressed in the same style - and Weird Al had the exact same type of ppl standing behind himself. I have it somewhere on my hard drive - if no one has seen it - I could post it somewhere.

The story is more along the lines of Al's managers asking Coolio's managers and there was a miscommunication. Al did not want to offend and apologized to Coolio himself. There has to be some sort of "permission". I don't think Coolio ever sued Al..and probably because there was an agreement he wasn't aware of.

Sounds like it was taken from the mid-1980s MTV interview. That would be funny to see!
