What's with the choppy sounds during the guitar solo of "She's always in my hair" (the version on the B sides CD)? Also in "One of Us" (from Rave I think) there is a weird feedback sound that repeats consistently, but doesn't contribute musically at all. Why does P add these things to some songs?

I don't know if this falls into what this thread is about, but what is up with the song transitions on 'Musicology?' It is very choppy. It's only noticeable when you have the songs on repeat.

The Ballad of Dorothy Parker sounds fine to me... sounds like the high end is there in the percussion... maybe its just misisng on the vocal, which gives it that midnight feel.

What mistake in Dorothy Parker?

Let's not forget the "cough" on "Raspberry Beret." My perfectionist ex-girlfriend saw the video recently on one of my DVD compilations and it blew her mind.

She started chattering like a robot in full "does not compute" meltdown: "What did Prince just do? Why did he do that? Why did he leave that in there? Why didn't he edit that out? Rewind that part! He didn't do that! Was that a mistake? Was it planned? Why why why?"

It drove her crazy! Thank you Prince. Pure Genius.

How about in "Little Red Corvette" when Prince is singing with at least two voices and one vocal track says, "A body like yours ought to be in jail" and the other vocal track says, "A body like yours ought to be in chains." You actually hear "jail" and "chains" at the same time. Why'd he leave it in there like that? Strange.

Much as I love the two songs, I think the bridge from Let's Work going into Annie Christian is really sloppy on the Controversy lp. The beats just don't tie up at all. Surely could have easily been mixed better. Presumably, since it's so blatantly poor it's an intentional 'flaw'.

What about that short feedback sound placed near the end of "Lovesexy" (the song)?
I like it (I like every single sound on that record) but many times I asked myself what's the meaning of it.

The intro to the extended version of Sexy Dancer. Studio chatter? The engineer? is talking about the "mix", or something.
