Kamasutra was a masterpiece compared to TRC.

Anxiety

Eh, it is what it is. I was expecting to LOATHE it based on what everyone was saying about it, but when I finally listened to it, I wasn't exactly blown away but I didn't mind it. I think there are a few interesting things going on with Kamasutra, and the whole thing was far more listenable than I was led to believe. And yes, parts of it are terribly gaudy and cringe-inducing...but come on, we're talking about an album inspired by Mayte. You're expecting "Blood on the Tracks"?

er

As much as I agree with all of you (there are some good things about it and some poo things about it) I'm going to tell you a little story that may give you a different insight as to what is cool about the CD as a total experience.
Years ago when the Crystal Ball package came out ('97), I was seeing this girl / woman who was in her early twenties and kinda a Prince fan but not a diehard by any means. We were hanging out for a few weeks (still having done nothing really physical - she said she wasn't that type of girl... cool enough - I respected her morals) and one evening I put on the Kamasutra CD, lit some candles, and gave her a massage with a little wine to boot. She went nuts over the whole thing and all inhibitions disappeared within about 27 minutes of the CD being on. Something about the candles, massage, nice red wine, and the Kamasutra CD got her going. We weren't destined to last by any means (too different) but later on down the line, I tried something similar with this other female to see if I got a similar reaction... yep I did. So I can honestly say that the Kamasutra is a good CD to have around if you got no Sam Cooke or Barry White kickin' nearby... smile
