on-target review.

i like "musicology" for the same reasons the reviewer does- it sounds good compared to recent releases.

yeah, i'm one of those people who hates TRC, there's a few of us around, don't worry about it, carry on enjoying TRC, it won't kill you that some people think it's intolerable listening... and as for N.E.W.S.?! well, that's the only prince album that i sold without first making a copy of it. i was enormously offended by N.E.W.S. i think it's his worst album release ever.

so "musicology" is a welcome offering to my ears and whilst it is not soaringly exciting, it doesn't really do anything too offensive.

but it *is* only an ok album in its own right, not a great one, that's the truth. too many mid-tempo 4 minute tracks; not enough solos, and a lot of the time the production stops just short of really socking the music to ya. this is an album where the listener has to put in the work to hear the quality, rather than a disc which announces itself with unabashed brilliance.

so, i'm with "the onion" on this one in hoping that the NEXT release is where it's really at.

A little kinder than I would have expected from The Onion. However, it's important to remember that The Onion is a FAKE NEWSPAPER.

yes, but its music reviews are serious and quite well-informed, judging from what i have just read.

TIGER2, YOU DON'T LIKE TRC? Don't you know that your opinions are WRONG! That's the beauty of these forums---we can all find out just how wrong all of our opinions are. As a matter of fact, my own opinion is wrong. How wrong is that?!?!?

Sorry about that. I'm only kidding. I laugh out loud (should I have typed LOL?) when I see someone telling another how wrong they are about liking/disliking something. I think it's fascinating how people can have such different views on certain songs. BTW, I love the last 4 songs on TRC but the rest is just okay to me. BOW DOWN TO MY OPINIONS! whatever. I really need to start taking my medicine a bit more frequently.

The Onion does have a serious side to it. They do interviews and reviews that are quite good. If you check out the site closely you can find them in the AV Club section on the main page.

It read almost like the album listens. Not too up not too down, just kinda there.
