You can only have one Prince album - which one would it be? I hate questoins like this too... but... if you could only have one Prince album which one would it be?
I've thought long and hard about this... and well... I think it's LOVESEXY. Oh my... ! I should own up. It was the first Prince album that really got me, not the first Prince I bought though. Listening to it now, it seems to contain precursors of the styles he still writes and includes in current repertoire althoug the energy is fresher / younger. What peturbs me about his choice is the whole Black Album / Lovesexy thing. But you know, may be we'll never get past that whole thing. Like Yin and Yang or something. A binary system. Oh boy.... better stop now. You wanna talk about this? ------------------------------------------------

Sign O' the Times. It covers every musical genre, is FONKAY as hell and I can't live a moment without hearing "ADORE" 8x100000 times. COOL!?!? COOL!!! Jeux Sans Frontiers

"Sign O the Times" is my choice...so many classics and a song for every mood. Feel happy, "Housequake". Feel depressed, "Sign O the Times. Feel in love, "Adore" or "Forever in My Life". Feel in lust, "It". Feel sexually confused, "If I was your Girlfriend". I could go on but it always seems like whatever I have needed to hear over the years, the album has always been there for me. Plus I have this great memory of how my beloved aunt Cookie, who passed 5 years ago, bought me my first copy on tape with the longbox (God I miss longboxes). Then we went to go see "Police Academy IV". Okay, actually that's pretty dorky memory but I thought I'd share...
Another great thing about this album is that I sing a few of these songs every night (Forever in My Life, Starfish and Coffee, The Cross) to get my 2-year old to sleep. She has no idea she is being brainwashed into being a member of the New Power Generation. All good things they say never last...

It would either be Sign of The Times or my personal favorite...Parade. I will do today what you won't, so tomorrow I can do what you can't.

I've thought long and hard about this... and well... I think it's LOVESEXY. Lovesexy was the first Prince album I bought, and I darn near wore that thing (cassette) out! I can never choose a fave Prince album, but I guess this one is always sorta special to me. "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

This insn't an "Original Release" choice but I'd choose "Dream Factory". Much better than SOTT! "The little 1 will escort u 2 the places within ur mind"

It's like the slogan for Lays potato chips; I can't eat/pick just one. It's just a dilemma born of having such a great, wide-ranging catalog. And it's weird, cuz...although there are (obviously)what I deem top tier Prince albums, I couldn't pick just one from that top tier. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
