NPS - why an NPG album So many people are hating on NPS. Have to agree that it is (one of) the low points but it still does contain some fonky trax. However, what I am wondering is why this was released as a New Power Generation album when it is clearly Prince on the cover, singing, playing etc?
Godnigga and Exodus were rightly NPG releases as they contained so much bad input (including lead vox on most trax). NPS was also promoted as part of the New Power Pak including Larry Graham and Chaka Khan (all single people on the covers) so it would seem like this would have worked thematically better if it was a Prince release (or release) It can't be that he thought NPS was weak in his opinion (and therefore not suitable to be called a Prince release) because he sure as hell promoted it and toured? What do people think. 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

? Make it look like the whole band created this mess maybe?
Critics wouldn't be as harsh as it is a "NPG" album and not a Prince album (or symbol back then), but isn't the his symbol name on the cover as well anyway?

he released it as an npg album because he wasn't taking it too seriously, unlike some of the fans who go overboard on it. yes it isn't very good but it isn't as bad as some make out.

I really don't think Prince thought it was a bad album. It is a "fun party album" (not my words) so perhaps to be taken less seriously then his other output perhaps? But all the tv appearances and the tour to promot NPS certainly made it VERY APPARENT it was a Prince album! 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Prince/NPG made Exodus at a time when Prince was really pissed at Warner Bros - just listen to the vitriole (sp?) on The Exodus Has Begun = awesome. I love it when Prince is angry as I believe the best art comes from adversity or censorship (because you need to be more creative to find a way around it) Ya think? NPS is when P replaed the Onld NPG members when he refused to pay them forsong writing and vocal singing on Exodus
Exodus Was a Good C.D. Its Raw Expression i was actually Glad Prince Wasn't on it vocally Sometimes its better just to feel his presents instead of always hearing him, like in NEWS and you can't tell me PRince Playing the italian in love with the MAsh potato girl Wasn't Hilarious!
