Geez..... I was going to respond, but after sitting here and thinking about it THERE'S JUST TOO MANY!!!! I can think of a couple dozen that represent or has affected my life in some kind of way. It's hard to choose one that affected my life the most because they all represent different times in my life. I guess I should say ALL of Prince's music has traveled this journey with me and continues to after all these years.

your (((((hug))))) for the day

There are waaayyyy too many....

However, the most recent would have to be The Last December. When I first heard it a Paisley last summer it made me really think about the life I was leading. Then last month my husband passed away from complications from diabetes. The song now makes me think of him. Yes, he stood tall - yes, he gave his all!!

REOFANTASY

There are so many Prince songs that have affected me, but the best three would have to be The Love We Make, Free, and Power Fantastic

"The Love We Make" reminds me that we should always seek God and know that it is our responsiblity to thow knidness to otheres. It also shows that drugs do not erase pain: "put down the needle, put down the spoon."

"Free" is from the 1999 album, which is before a lot of people times, but the song is a must have. It talks about independence and personal freedom. It also discusses the evils of war. During this uneasy time, we must cherish our freedoms. They are something that our enemies don't have.

"Power Fantastic" is a b-side that many people don't even know about. It is soft ballad about the power of God, and I relate that to the Holy Spirit. It tlaks about "fire that is cold as ice" which is what many describe as the feelining believers get. It sotthes my inner self.

I like all the other greats and own everything but The Rainbow Children. I was shocked to know about this album, especially since I cannot find it anywhere in North Carolina!

Peace and be wild

Anxiety

I probably have a lot of the same titles and thoughts to offer, but I couldn't resist adding my two cents' worth.

The first Prince song that actually brought tears to my eyes was Another Lonely Christmas. The first time I'd heard it was when I was 14 years old and it had just been released. My mother was going through a horrible depression and refused to get out of bed, and I had to take care of her and make her food, and sometimes even feed her. At one point, I had to talk her out of taking her own life. Please remember, I was FOURTEEN.

I put that single on, and the music was so beautiful to me, and the song was so sad, and it was by the one person whose music meant everything to me at the time. And I played it over and over and over and cried and cried and cried.

As far as affecting me (is it Affect or Effect?) below the belt, Computer Blue/Darling Nikki still gets me going. It's just so raw and....NASTY. They're not even nasty in a particularly clever way, brilliant as these songs are - it's just plain rip your clothes off and do it on the damn FLOOR nasty.

And virtually every extended single between Let's Go Crazy and Sign 'O' The Times completely changed my life the first time I heard them. I KNOW some of you know what I'm talking about.

Can't choose one. Here's ten:

DARLING NIKKI - the screaming!

HOW COME U DON'T CALL - the falsetto!

If I WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND - the genius!

WHEN DOVES CRY - the timing!

HEAD - the cheek!

SOMETIMES IT SNOWS - the pain!

DO ME BABY - the orgasm!

POP LIFE - the intro!

EROTIC CITY - the funk!

PURPLE RAIN - the guıtar!

One of the tracks that I heard only recently that just made me shiver was "One Nite Alone." One of the most hauntingly beautiful love songs he has done in many years. Whenever the man strips it down, and its simply Prince behind the piano or with a guitar strapped round his neck, he can take u on an emotional journey like no other.

OH wow!! Prince has some of the greatest songs out!! That it is hard to pick one or two. I think for me the song that affects me still is " Another Lonely Christmas " Because the week that it hit the streets in '84, around Thanksgiving weekend. My father had just passed away, two days before turkey day. And on Friday night, the day after turkey day. I remember hearing this cool blues type song on the radio and I started to cry. I know " Men don't cry", but hey I was only 12 years-old and I had just lost my buddy. But this is one song that still makes me cry every time I hear it, even today.
“When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.” Brazilian bishop Dom Hélder Câmara

For me it's usually the simple, heartfelt songs -

Sometimes it snows in April
The Cross
Still would stand all time

But, others just blow me away -

The Beautiful ones
Something in the water

Tenderness vs Passion - they're all affecting
