Does anyone think Prince's mannerisms/jokes in concert are too Little Richard-esque

When I attended a Musicology concert right before Easter and Prince was flirting with the crowd and doing his eye movements, facial expressions, and posturing ... some were laughing but I sat very still for a while because it was eerie .... it was like a reincarnation of Little Richard.

I didn't like it.

I've seen Prince in concert three other times and never had that reaction to his joking and flirtation. But this Musicology tour was different ... He seems a bit too affected and like he's doing a Little Richard impression when interacting with the crowd. The Little Richard hair didn't help the matter.

People have always compared the two, but I've never seen Prince mimick him this much.

Is it just me?

Little Richard did say "Prince is me in this generation."
(.. but I had always laughed at that poor delusion)

To be balanced, let me add that not ALL his jokes resembled Little Richard and some were funny..... but there was enough copycatting to raise my concern...

little richard is the king, let our guy imitate his as much as he wants. He's always imitated the early guys, it's his way of saying thanks. He imitates Jerry lee and Elvis at times too. I love it being a rock and roll historian.

He's defnitely starting to resemble Little Richard. Which is why I wish he'd change the hair, to avoid further comparison!

Prince has been getting the little richard comparisons since day one. As long as he has that perm and is not overly masculine that will continue.

Speaking of which, didn't they approach Prince to play Little Richard in a made-for-television movie-bio on his life? This was about 5 years ago or so. Prince would've done great in some things, but other things... Hmm...
