The Compromise Theory:
Based on my analysis, I believe the government faked the plane crash and demolished the WTC North Tower with explosives.
The South Tower, in a simultaneous but unrelated plot was brought down by actual terrorists.
Is it a deal?

No album can do that well if there is no single to promote it being played on the radio, and without the single played no one is going to play the video for the single. Without those things, you need at least to make some live appearances on tv - Prince has done none of that of course because he is in the middle of a busy tour.

So the decision to pull the single seems even more bizarre. If Beyonce released an album without any videos, singles or appearances I don' t think that would do so well either.

I don't think it's that funny. I know what your point is but you score nothing here. I'm sure you think I was being a hypocrite with my comment, but I know what I wrote and I know the intention. Sorry pal, no points for you tonight.

Oh, Evil.... can't you see? If Tammy Faye had said "You wear too much mascara"... If MJ said "Whatever you do, stay yourself!"... If Simon Cowell had said "Please lay off the sarcasms!"... well, then maybe your admonition to "learn to ignore what you don't like" wouldn't be so goddam funny.

No, because that piece of advice was just for him. It's not a general law that I'm proposing.

It debuted at # 3 on billboard this week. It is a good album with the exception of cinnamon girl and life 'o' the party.

I was thinking about it myself...if the album didn't have those 2 tracks above...it would have been better!! I tend to skip those tracks myself!!

Well, Sony may have spent lots on advertising the product, but their press department are still really crap. I work for a publishers and press departments are supposed to supply us with images, press releases, etc and Sony have very often let us down. I tried to get a Prince feature in our magazine and they couldn't be arsed to help at all. In PR, even the most unreliable folk usualy reply to e-mails and get things done, but with Sony these days it's just banging your head against a brick wall.

bollocks. i'm sorry i work in press. the girl that does this project is great. you are letting your generally bad relationship with them cloud your opinion.

Musicology has easily had some of the best and thorough reviews than ANY of his previous. and these guys got the product to service the media with just a couple of weeks pre-release. this is usually an early death to getting reviews and mag like to keep the reviews up to date and fresh. not review ablums that have been in the shops for a couple of weeks.

Prince has had cover features in supplements, multiple page features in many magazines and papers ALL WITHOUT GETTING A SINGLE INTERVIEW. again. a very very hard job.

princes PR has been exceptional.

As long as he's in the top 10, I think that's really good. Even w/o the album giveaways, he still would've been on the top ten also. I was browsing through the billboard charts & didn't see the 'Musicology' single anywhere. Where is it and how's it doing???

to be expected. all the fans have bought it. most of the 'occasional' buyers saw all the press and hype before the release and bought it week 1. who else is going to buy it..? the kids aren't...

don't worry. it will get a lift from the UK tour (supposed to be very soon). but i have heard that the radio people are negative towards any potential radio tracks.

on a similar note. it's all eyes on billboard. i can easily see prince getting bored on this project. not out of dissapointment (no reason to be dissapointed), just princes track record. if billboard sales decline a lot, i can see him not bothering to make another video for a single. no video - no single. no single - sony will stop working it.

i was in hmv yesterday in glasgow 3 girls about 14/16 waiting to pay for the album , and last week i saw a boy about 16 in the line waiting to buy it too !, this is really weird as u rarely even c peeps checkin out the bloody p section !

The single is not getting much play at radio, and the video's seemed to drop off MTV and VH1 as far as I can tell. It makes sense, because it really is out of line with everything they play. But the album should continue to do well thanks to this brillant (if morally complicated!) strategy with the giveaways (which I'll continue to call them, thank you very much).

The more I think about it, What Do You Want Me 2 Do should really be the next single.
