I Can't Believe I'm Saying This...

But...

"Life O' The Party" is starting to grow on me... redface

I'm not skipping over it in disgust anymore... eek

It's not making my intestines cramp like it used to... confuse

I still cringe as soon as I hear "Goody 4 U", though... ill

And I know the rest of the lyrics aren't much better... sigh

Still...I can listen to Musicology from beginning to end now and enjoy it...weird. confused

That's cause it is the bomb-diggity! Baddest track on the CD. Well, after Reflection.

Funny, I love the "goody for you" bit...I just wish he was saying "bully," now THAT would be cool.

I put the album away for a week, and then put it on at the gym and really found myself liking every track. Even "Cinammon Girl" sounded pretty good! It's such a grower, as all great albums tend to be. And then I put on TGE, which although I still enjoy, just sounds a bit too machine-like next to the organic "Musicology." I really do think it's his best album since the late-80s heyday.

but i don't care if you give me two tubs of vodka, there ain't ever gonna be enuff for me to like LOTP!

well, maybe... wink

I did almost the same thing. I stopped playing for a week or so and just started playing it again and love it more than I did before. I truly think its his best in awhile. It's a real pleasant listen imo...nothing cringe-worthy...I even like LOTP eek .

I'm exactly the same. I don't believe myself anymore when i say i hate it.

It's not brilliant, but i don't skip it either. confused The beat is pretty good. Now if only that nasty screeching of Candy's could be removed...

I seem to be the opposite to most people...

My fave tracks are: (in that order)

6. Cinnamon Girl
7. What Do U Want Me 2 Do?
8. The Marrying Kind
9. If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life

and tbh when i first put it in the cd player i skipped over :

2. Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance
3. A Million Days
4. Life 'O' The Party

And the others i didnt really care for:

1. Musicology
5. Call My Name
10. On The Couch
11. Dear Mr. Man
12. Reflection

But now, having had the CD for a while and listend to it lots i can quite easily listen to the whole CD and i dont skip any...Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance, A Million Days and Life 'O' The Party have grown on me and i can quite enjoy them now biggrin

All in all its a good album and it nice to see him doing some of the older sounds we know and love. thumbs up! clapping

I actually like it now. It's got a great beat and Prince's vocals in it are awesome.

"Everyone can smell this funk y'all, down in Atlanta, GA!"

His voice just sounds really cool in it. Chorus still sounds outdated though.

Yeah that's the part I like the most. It's a cool track, but if it was remixed with the bridge part as the main line, it would be off the hook. Candy did a decent job, but there a part of her vox that kinda annoys me...when she goes; "this is the life o the.....Partaaaayyyyy. There's this huge gap between 'o' the and party, then there's a staccato on the 'p' in party. I'm jus being picky.

I never envisioned Life O' The Party (which redefines Hip Hop track to me) as a lyrically based song!!

I like the part with his arrogant voice in the middle of the song.

Well ... since we're confessing...

After bashing ICPC, Life of the Party, and Musicology the song ...

I have to admit I now like the entire album and listen to it straight through.

what the hell happened?

I'm not talking back what I said about ICPC amd LOTP though.

What happened...is that in reality the songs on Musicology are very catchy, even the ones that suck... lol thumbs up!

And ICPC I didn't like on first listen..by the third listen, I was hooked. That song is funky as hell.. nod
