I'm in the middle of 7 weeks of radiation for treatment of breast cancer. I have to go every day. The team of radiation technicians know that I like Prince. Every day they have cd's playing while patients are getting radiated. So far, it's been Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Roy Orbison. But today when I layed down, they started the cd and it was 1999--the whole album!

Of course I've heard this album a thousand times, but they all looked at me, smiling. I felt like crying. Wasn't that so nice of them?

Listening to that CD made my radiation go so much faster.

I know--stupid topic, but I really wanted to tell somebody who likes Prince just as much as me.

not a stupid topic at all, dustysgirl. i wish you the best while you're undergoing this treatment.

we put up with a lot of jokes and ridicule when we are "obsessed" with our favorite artists. ("obsessed" by many people's standards just because we own more than three albums by one musician...). but it is very touching when people actually take the time and go out of their way to acknowledge our obsession.

i have a sis-in-law who is always, always making fun of Prince... me "wasting" my money on albums and concerts to someone who is "irrevalent" as she says... Last weekend, when I was visiting for my nephew's bday party, she was all excited because she had found a pristine copy of the Purple Rain album at an estate sale, poster and all!

go figure!

That was thoughtful and very nice of your doctor's office to put Prince music on for you during your radiation. Music really does help heal in so many ways and it had to feel good to know they recognize your love for his music, and that they care about you enough to remember.

What you're going through right now is something tougher than most of us have ever handled in our lives. May GOD be with you for all of your treatments and may Prince be played everyday that you are recovering. GOD loves you and so do I

i can appreciate the topic, and what it meant to you to have that music played for you during your treatments, but i gotta say one thing that comes to me more than anything, i read this earlier today, and was going to wish you well, of which i will still do.....but i couldnt find the right words....today while i was making dinner for the kids i reflected back to this thread, and decided what it was that i needed to say...


i totally admire you !! you are in the middle of a horrible time, yet you are confident enough and strong enough to have the strength to look at things in a positive manor. I am not all together sure that i could do the same thing in your shoes. it often amazes me when people are faced with such horrible situations in life how well they handle things. while i am sitting here bitching about the smallest hurdles that i face.....i guess what i am trying desperately to say to you is that your post touched me, on many levels, but mostly because my heart is with you....i dont know you, but, one thing i can say, you are a strong woman, and you will do just fine with all that is set out for you my best wishes to you and yours in this difficult situation....and may god keep you as strong and as beautiful as you are today thank you so much for reminding me all that life has to offer, and to remember that those around us may need an extra hug, or kind word.....much love honey

I did 7 weeks of rads too, after 8 chemo's. It sucks all the energy from your very bones but when it's over it just gets better from there. It's cool they played Prince for you. My onc's kept playing the radio station I work for so I"m laying there neekid listening to my co-workers... fun

I have had many operations and long hospital stays, due to a birth defect.
What you are going through is something that takes strength, and you have certainly displayed it.
