is prince music racially diveded ?

a fan friend told me that i seem to like all the songs by prince the white people liked, i asked what's that suppose to mean? He says Prince music seems to be diveded between the white fans and the black fans and the white fans don't like a lot of Prince R&b sounding songs, like the black fans don't like a lot of Prince Rock songs. See he use the sample of how I like The Gold Experience, which was catergorized as rock/ pop, he likes Diamonds & Pearls which was mainley funk/blues and R&B. So do u think it's true that Prince music is racially diveded ?

I think most of us, no matter the color, like most of Prince's music, no matter the style. Now, if you want to get into a study of his lyrics, then you might have something to talk about.

I don't think so.I'm a white boy who loves his pre 1999 material(mainly r&b- ish). The show I saw in 1993 probably had the most diverse crowd of people I've ever seen, out of the 150 shows I've attended over the years. So in concert...not divided at all.

Nope! Don't Think so.I always dug his Gospel, Spiritual the Most. His Affirmations and his Racial Observations have Always Moved me. I always Felt the SOUL he Conveyed to me with his Music. Sacrifice,Free,Still Would Stand, Avalanche. Prince to me has ALWAYS BROUGHT Together Diverse Cultures or at Least this is What he Strived for.CONTROVERSY, UPTOWN. To say Whites like this or Blacks that well I feel that is just Stereotypying and clearly UNTRUE.

but you gotta remember like during 1984-1986 prince was loosing his black audience. Sometime in 1987 I don't think black people where listening much to prince in those days, he had to change his band in order to regain back his black audience he once lost during the purple rain days.
