Ok when records were being used I was still a baby so I would not know and i never had a record player... - but did any of you ever play a Prince record backwards out of curiousity? and if so did you mind any hidden messages or something? like some people say about the Kiss records.

My older sister had the 12" extended mix of Let's Go Crazy. I used to play the breakdown instrumental part at half speed. Try it! It sounds good.

Actually, if you have the VHS copy of Prince and the Revolution Live('85) I think they play it forward on there...somewhere around the middle of the concert...

Yes, exactly. At the time, preachers in South Carolina were going crazy, holding rallies where kids would burn their "Satanic" albums in a bonfire. I attended a couple of these events with a friend, out of curiosity. Very sad. Some young preacherguy announced that if you held the 1999 cover into a mirror that it read "666 Penis".

You don't really have to hold it into a mirror for that, though... just turn it upside-down.

Anyhow, all of these "Satanic" artists were supposedly trying to lure us to the devil through backward-masking... hiding their evil messages backwards in their songs.

Prince took some air out of that half-assed argument by placing a Christian message at the end of a nasty tune.

I thought it was the coolest, and still do.

i don't get why the church quickly makes the word penis a taboo. i mean it's nature because it's a part of a human. and i think the people who associate words like penis, breast, and so on with bad indecent stuff must be because they have the indecency and dirt in their minds. know what i mean?
it makes me think "hmmm? wonder what' on your conscious ...."
i mean no offense to people who are like going to church and stuff but i am just voicing my opinion. and remember we all have different percepectives according to race, sex, age, and so on.
