Experimental. i dont care if it's jazzy as long it is hornless, i am tired of so much horns. be jazzy on the guitar and piano would be great.

Prince needs some good producers!
His sound is too retro if he wants to
be popular again.

Oh well they can't turn the Rolling Stones into
Radiohead right? lol

Every popular artist has its heydays and Princes
were in the 8ties that's fine. I just want him to
make a very good album! smile

and this is why there is so much disappointment with Prince. not because the music is so much bad, but that you have preconceived notions of what the next Prince album should sound like before there is even a Prince album. which means your disappointment has nothing to do with Prince's music so much as what you think Prince's music should be. in reality, this really means you don't want Prince's music, you want your ideas of what Prince's music should be.

how about just waiting for a new album and liking or disliking it. if you want to hear a record sound a particular way, make a record yourself.

I would love to see a return to the Dirty Mind mentality. Short, abrupt tracks, lots of

synth, but sparse (not the lush operatic production of TRC) all the way through. P. is in

serious need of something raw. Make it raw P. I got this feeling that the next record is

going to have some guest appearances – possibly A. Keys and Adre 3000?

1st of all-Hello?!? Prince is "popular" again. Prince hasn't been this "popular" since '91.

2ndly- What exactly do you think a producer does? A producer would be pointless for Prince because he is a musician and not just a singer/rapper such as Britney Spears, Justin, or whomever P.Diddy is puppeteering.

3rdly- Call it retro if you want (it's a compliment in these days of disposable music). In 10 years play the D12 song "My BAnd" and "Musicology" back to back. The D12 song is going to sound as cheesy and old as hell. That is to say, dated. Have you listened to any of the most "popular" music from the early 90's lately. It doesn't sound have as fresh as anything Prince has done. That's what happens when people constantly make flavor of the moment pop pseudo street vibe music with their computers.

In the words of the great Ozzy Osbourne....ROCK & ROLLLLL!!!!! nod

We've gotten a guitar acoustic album, a piano album, an R & B album(most of Emancipation), pop albums (Rave and Musicology), a live album, a very creative, innovative, eclectic album (Rainbow Children), a funk/jazz fusion/instrumental album(two actually)so whats left??? ROCK & ROLL!! Guitar baby!!

I want more attitude, more things that grab you and shake you both musically and lyrically. Musicology did neither of those things for me. I want to listen to the next Prince album and say, "His Royal Badness is back"!!

I want to be completely compelled to listen to it a million times. I want that feeling that I am apart of a revolution. Again, I didnt feel that on Musicology. I felt like I was listening to a group of B rate outtakes from studio sessions, like something from Crystal Ball. The tracks arent bad, but they just dont move me. (Dear Mr. Man is my favorite song on Musicology. I am crazy about that one right now.) smile

Famboozled

Funk-rock?

Think Calhoun Square but less polished.

Or better yet, a soul album, Al Green style.

Of course, Prince won't pigeonhole himself like this, and it'd be ridiculous to think he himself has so many set in stone notions when he comes to making a new LP.
