I don't think it's that important to him..... been there done that The charts are over-rated and he recognizes that The charts may well be over-rated - but if Prince got a number everyone here would suddenly think the charts are great! Prince has been there and done that with award shows - yet look what an appearance at 2 awards shows earlier this year has done! The main problem is that there isn't a single stand-out track on Musicology that will transcend individuals' tastes such that everyone will love and go out and buy in big numbers - we can't even agree between us Prince fans!

I think CALL MY NAME is a very strong single. It should go over very well on the urban stations. I'm listening to it right now....damn it is good...it gets better everytime I hear it. I'm going to do my part tonight, I'm DJing a local prom with a majority black student population and I will spin this track. I'll let you all know how it goes over.

that's the problem with releasing call my name as the next single. musicology was only played on urban stations...and not much, by the way. there is still no sign of prince on top 40 playlists. he needs to tap that market now, considering half of the new cd is just that! this is not 1979. there is no need to re-introduce prince to a small audience and build from there. everyone knows his name. fine, release call my name to urban stations...just make sure at the same time top 40 gets something too.

still early yet. you and the rest of the folks who want some top-40 recognition or whatever else are gonna have to probably drum your fingers on your tabletops for a bit longer. so keep drummin them fingers and don't fret. for fuck's sake, the album's only been out for, what, about a week...the single's been out for a hair longer, whatever...it ain't gonna kill folks to WAIT AND SEE.

I don't think CMN as a single is a bad idea. I think CMN as the 2nd single is a bad idea.
Man, I would just kill for Prince to have released ICPC as the first single, A Million Days as the second, and then CMN as the third. But why Prince always insists on releasing JB style cuts as singles is beyond me. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

How many non-white artist over 40 have gotten top 40 play? Black artists who have crossed over in their younger years have to go back to their core as they get older or else they are done. This is the mistake MJ made after Dangerous. Dangerous was a return to his core and well received. He threw this away with History and it was down hill from there. It names the smashes 'Musicology' and 'Call My Name' Make your own assumptions For me that's a bad move It's not single material 'Cinnamon Girl' has the potential to be a HUGE hit!... and a reworked 'Million Days' with less production overkill could be the rocky ballad he always craves ~TheLodger~ "Cinnamon Girl" as the third single? Sometimes that sticker doesn't mean much. We'll have to wait and see.

"Call My Name" is a strong ballad. I think it's a good choice for the second single. Musically it was very well written and has staying power compared to some of the other tunes. My next choice would be Mr. Man.

I don't own the CD (will get it when I see his concert) but they play the single, "Musicology," quite frequently on the local R&B adult station here in Wash, DC - 102.3. On a few occasions, the DJ has mentioned to check out Cinamon Girl, and The Marrying kind...but has not mentioned, Call my name.

It's a terrible song that's good for nothing but insomnia. A very bad decision. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

Funny how u know every song from Musocology sucks, why would someone who hates most of P's output for the last few years, know every song, know about all the latest albums, know the last news of P, know how he's doing on the charts. EWM u may just be the biggest FAM here , u just like stir the pot a bit & talk a lot of sh@. u r the biggest Hater who has the biggest problem with letting go. All this bitching is like a todler trying 2 get attention...if u REALLY HATED PRINCE...u wouldn't download, borrow or buy any new Prince music . But here u are....day after day. time after time.. we all know you're a closet Purple-Freak-Lover Don't u want to come , 3121. It's gonna be so much fun, 3121. That's where the party be, 3121. Y'all can come if u want to, but u can never leave!
