The Compromise Theory:
Based on my analysis, I believe the government faked the plane crash and demolished the WTC North Tower with explosives.
The South Tower, in a simultaneous but unrelated plot was brought down by actual terrorists.
Is it a deal?

this is pure marketing, the didnt want to choose purple rain because it woudl be too obvious, pricne has tons of solos better than LRC.

A FUNNY THING I'D LIKE TO ADD TO THIS POLL. PERSONALLY IT WOULD TAKE ME A WHILE TO SIFT THROUGH MY MIND AS TO WHAT SOLO I RATE NO.1.BUT I HAVE A DOCUMENTARY, ERIC CLAPTON, STANDING UP TO COMMENTS FROM,LITTLE RICHARD,("I WISH HE COULD HOLD BACK SOME PRODUCT,GOD GAVE HIM SO MUCH.,etc") RANDY NEWMAN, "HE'S NOT SELLING RECORDS LIKE DEF LEOPARD, PRINCE ISN'T VERY MARKETABLE,BUT PEOPLE SHOULD NOTICE HIM A LITTLE MORE, HE DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A REAL NICE GUY" (NEWMAN DOES ALL THE DISNEY CARTOON SOUNDTRACK'S!) GEORGE CLINTON, "YEH! ,WE CALL PRINCE A POSITIVE NUISANCE ", SHOWED G. CLINTON FUNKING OUT LYRICS WITH PRINCE PUSHING HIM ALONG ON THE DRUM KIT.ANYHOW ERIC GOES ON TO SAY," I DON'T THINK PRINCE IS A COMMERCIAL TYPE GUY, HE'S NOT JUST PUSHING TO SELL RECORDS,I KNOW WHERE HE'S COMING FROM."CLAPTON THEN STATED 'PURPLLE RAIN' AS 1 OF HIS ALL TIME FAVOURITE SONGS! (SOLO!) "I'VE HAD MANY A TUSSLE WITH PEOPLE SAYING PRINCE IS NOTHING SPECIAL!". "IT SEEMS YOU EITHER HATE THE GUY , OR YOU LOVE HIM" COMING FROM E.C. I WAS MOVED!
~PClinuxOS~ yes I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ... thumbs up!

I prefer When doves cry. I remember that in the 80s I only listened to hard rock and hated Prince, but I always stopped to listen to Doves because of the whole guitar work. That guitar intro is killer! And the solo..amazing!
One of my fave solos of all time. Even Jeff Beck praised it.

Dez recently auctioned off the guitar that he played the LRC solo with on Ebay. I bid on it, but was beaten out. It only went for less than $1500. A piece of history like that would have been cool to have, but I gots priorities, I guess...
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

hehe, no. well haircut & clothes would be up there in my ranking with the cucumbers lol

it's just a fact that I would care about any other instrument more than I care about a(rock) guitar, I just can't stand that sound. period. A guitar can be useful to provide a nice funky rhythm track but never ever should be featured as a lead or solo instrument! no no no! brrrrhhhhh

sorry, I'm just not into Rock at all, and this top 100 list is exactly about that (Led Zeppelin, G'nR, Ozzy, Van Halen... )

The guitar playing on SOTT (the song) remains my favorite. So funky, so unique and damn hard to really copy to.

- Ok...hehe...I am sorry....I thought you were one of those ´fams´ that seem to like other aspects of Prince more than music itself.
I know some people who think that way too, that can´t stand guitar heroes or rock guitar. It´s just a matter of opinion and taste.
I only think this discussion is relevant because one of Prince´s strongest points as a musician is the rock guitar playing. One of things people praise more and comment more about him is his skill to blend rock guitar solos with funky rythms. He is a kick ass rythm player too, and can do great solos when he wants to smile
