Where Should I Start From

I have heard of Prince all of my life, just becoming a fan about 2 years ago. The first Prince CD I got was 1999 and just recently got Musicology. Where should I start my Prince collection first.
PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever

SassyBritches

go to a used cd/record store and pick up anything you don't have. you might as well start with the lesser material first and then make your way up. plus, used stores tend to have some really great (but unpopular) prince cds such as come, chaos and disorder and crystal ball.

It's hard to say without the context of time (all the different eras), and given all the stylistic changes he's gone through, but, IMO:
For You
Dirty Mind
Controversy
Purple Rain
Around the World In A Day
Parade
Sign O' the Times
the Gold Experience

... then get the rest...

Hey now, you forgot one of the best of the bunch -- Prince from 1979. It's my Top 5 of favs. I agree with Dansa and paligap... You must go back to get forward -- just please don't skip the Prince album.
